Hello all.
I'll be going to Burning Man for the 11th time this year, and the theme is "The American Dream" I'm contending that Zombies are the American monster and thus the American nightmare. We all know that werewolves are British, Mummies are Egyptian, Frankenstein and Dracula are eastern European; movie zombies are American (including central American, if you include vodoun zombies, which I do) So the art project I'm planning is "Camp of the Living Dead". I'm going to be turning people into zombies, serving "zombies" and meat snacks, playing zombie games and disorganizing zombie walks. I've found a cool way to do quick scars by making them beforehand on bandaids, but I need hints for makeup, rot, clothing, etc.
I'd like to show zombie movies as well, but I'm not sure of the copyright allowances - if I show short clips, is that OK? If I show old or foreign movies, does that count? I know plenty of other people show movies out there (not to mention other alleged criminal activity), but I'd like to be fair to the movie people as well because it seems to me as if this is a grey zone. If anyone has thoughts or feelings about this I'd love to hear them. FWIW these are movies I own. My favorites are any of the Romeros (of course), Fido, 28 days/weeks, and anything I can find in another language (Biozombie, Night of the Living Dorks, the Zombi series); I've also found a bunch of zombie-related videos on Youtube.
Anyhoo, hello and ghrgrhhhh....
