anyone play Urban Dead http://www.urbandead.com/ ?
When playing a live survivor, does it do any good to search an area more than once?

i'm not about searching the area, but it definitely helps to try to enter buildings that have been barracaded more than once.
Yes, you can search more than once and sometimes you will find more stuff, sometimes not.

Actually, you NEED to search more than once.
Other hints: Yellow Buildings mean that the building is lit with a portable running generator. It is easier to find things in lit buildings.
Also, particular buildings have particular things:
Hospitals: First Aid Kits (FAKs)
Police Stations: ammo, guns
and so on.
You NEED to search more than once to get multiple FAKs and tons of ammo and guns!
I love Urban Dead. I started playing it in January of 2008 and I am addicted to it! Love it! See you in Malton!
For more information on a whole crapload of stuff about Urban Dead, just check out the Urban Dead Wiki (there's a link to it on your main page when you're playing Urban Dead. That's where ALL the crap you need to know is located.)

It is indeed and I love playing it. And no, it does no good to search more than once.

Uh, yes it does. You're meant to search multiple times, that's the point of it. Each search you do you have a certain % chance of finding a range of different items, each with their own search odds. The Urban Dead wiki has a info on search odds, items, etc. I highly recommend it.

Yea I also love Urban Dead, especially since I maxed out my char (all survivor and zombie skills), it lets me have a good run as either side, although I prefer being a zombie :)
My player name is DMR9, and yea, it is because it took my 9 tries to make a good char lol...
but yea, you have to search more than once, and don't search in a ransacked building, you will almost never find anything...

It'll make more sense the more you play. It's pretty straight forward and logical, it just takes a bit of time to get used to it.
Yes, searching more than once is useful. Basically, at any given time, there's a certain percentage chance that you'll find something. Say you're in a Necrotech building. On a good day, there's maybe a 10% chance you'll find a syringe laying around. So, you search ten times, there's one. You use all 50 AP points (assuming you "slept" there last night, meaning you ran out of AP points there the day before), there's 5, maybe a few more, maybe a few less. That's WAY better than making syringes (which cost 20 AP, so you can make 2.5 a day, meaning either you make 2 and have 10 AP left or you make 3 and have -10 AP, and can't move again until you're back to 1AP or higher).
Think of it this way. You're in your room. Your shoes are... somewhere. You look around once. Didn't see em. Look again. Nothing. Look three times. Still can't find em. Look four times, there they are. That's four times, meaning a 25% chance. Making sense?
And no, there's isn't a "limited number" of syringes or any other items somewhere. It's all based on chance (due to those percentages). The game effectively has NO economy (if you find it or make it, it's yours, otherwise, you can't give items to anyone else, there's no "money," etc), and searches are entirely chance-based (like rolling a dice in a tabletop game). And that percentage chance changes randomly (maybe by location, maybe by time, maybe by player, who knows?). They claim that if you "zerg" (run more than one character, since the server limit is 160 hits a day, meaning you could effectively run three characters at once, which they allow but they claim they moderate to see if those characters are in the same part of the city or commiting group acts, IE zerging), your percentage chances go down. I haven't noticed it. I don't think they watch it NEARLY that well, but the forum guys at brainstock do, and they're REAL asshats about it (if they suspect you of zerging, without any proof or "trial," they add you to a list that they feel is OK to PK, which I think is just an excuse to PK and get away with it).

great explanation, couldn't have said it any better.
Yea you do meet your fair share of arseheads in Urban Dead, but it's actually alot less than most online games. Like I'm playing L4D and NZ online and I seem to get ALL the arsehats lol. Another reason to love urban dead, ppl like that you dont encounter often.

Hate the gennie killers and player killers ('live' players that kill other live players in the safe houses) I'm a rotter thats joined a clan that runs a NecroTech clinic devoted to reviving other Rotters, but we also revive non-rotters as well.
