"Sponsored Links" in Forums

I've been noticing a lot more noticable advertising on ATZ of late. Now we have these banner ads popping up in the middle of threads. I see it on a lot of other forums but it's a bit annoying, because it looks like a reply to the thread. Is that something the forum provider has slipped in?

Really? I haven't noticed a thing, unless one of my pop-up blockers is suppressing the ads... Where precisely do you notice these ads? Do they appear consistently when you revisit the same location? He's right BZN, I actually implemented that last night.

There's only 2 banners. One at the top, and one after the first post in each thread. Now, we had one banner ad before that got nuked when I updated the forum software...and I've just now finally put it back.

I've tried to make them as least annoying as possible. And I think it would be hard to mistake the one in the threads as an actual post b/c it's centered, much smaller, and half of the time it will be an obvious ad image and not text.

I made a promise at the start of this site, that I would never put pop-up ads up, as those are uber-annoying. So this should be the it as far as advertising on the forums. The fact is, the bills don't pay themselves. And if I didn't need to do it, I wouldn't.

The new version of vBulletin is coming out soon, so hopefully the cool new features will help soothe the pain! :)

I thought you may had done something last night because I noticed a Flash banner ad at the top of the forum... However It hasn't appeared today. :)

They're showing up fine for me. I've checked them under IE and Firefox on 2 different PCs.

Opps! Speak of the Devil... There's a Flash Banner at the top of my page... I guess it all depends on when the rotate it in and out. :roll:

I'm using the ABP extension for Firefox, it denies access for a variety ads. I was wondering what service or sites these ads are specific to, so that I know which ones to allow access.

I like this site a lot, and wish to support it by allowing the ads and seeing what they offer from time to time.
