No they definitely don't make them like they used to, that's for sure.

I was a Nickelodeon junkie myself. Here was my daily line up:

come home from school at 3:30
3:30-Rockos Modern Life
4:00-Doug
4:30-Are You Afraid Of The Dark? (my absolute FAVORITE show:clap:)
5:00-I can't remember this one
5:30-Rugrats

I think that's how it went. I could be wrong. But I am certain of Are You Afraid Of The Dark? being at 4:30 and Rugrats being at 5:30.

Does anyone remember Scooby Do and the 13 ghosts? That show was awesome!

I also loved scooby do, angry beavers, invader zim, hey arnold, ren and stimpy, gargoyles, recess, pink panther, pepper ann, and the magic school bus was fun.

I really wish I could remember what all they used to play on Saturday morning cartoons...I can only remember Recess and Pepper Ann eventually they got the Disney version of Doug.

What about Pete and Pete? I know it wasn't a cartoon, but man I sure did love that show! I actually have a friend who got to be an extra in the very last episode they did. It was the Halloween episode.

I know this will age me, but when I was a kid, I watched the afternoon special (usually a movie) when I got home from school. There were no cartoons except early in the morning and on Saturdays.

Before school, I watched Kimba, The Great White Lion. Very few people have heard of it. I think it was mostly shown in Michigan. It was a great cartoon!

On Saturdays, my favorite show was Sir Graves Ghastly. (I know, not a cartoon) He hosted horror movies. Similar to the more popular and well known Elvira.

As for cartoons on Saturday, I watched the ever popular Bugs Bunny Show, Rocky and BullWinkle, Felix the Cat, etc. I just can't seem to remember the others. Old age you know?!

As a young adult, I loved to watch The Smurfs, HeMan, and The Adventures of Johhny Quest. I think I'll leave it at that, grab up my cane, and head out the door, at a very fast shuffle!

Heh, that is definitely before my time! Half of that I have never heard of.

Although I do remember being a small child and going to my great grandmas house and watching the smurfs. They were awesome! loved the mushrooms and still do.

Sounds like my mom with all the classics. She's a nut about Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner and all those old school cartoons. They really never did anything for me though.

How can you not remember The Adventures of Pete and Pete?!?!?!!? The two red headed brothers both named Pete? Remember younger Pete had a tattoo on his forearm of some chick named Petunia that danced?

Zombreach

Old School I must be then!! As for doing nothing for you..well, there really wasn't a lot to choose from. Not like today. They seem pretty lame to me now too.

I have never lost my enjoyment for a good cartoon though. My son, who is 12, watches a lot of the cartoons you have mentioned. Most of them drive me crazy, but I am an old lady, you know.

That's funny that you mention that show. My white Am. Staff (pit bull) is named Kimba. I've never seen the show but I've googled for pictures. She was named by a four year old. :)

I remember watching tons of cartoons on both Nickelodeon & Cartoon Network. My favorites were Ed Edd & Eddy, The Powerpuff Girls, Spongebob Squarepants, Ren & Stimpy, Beavis & Butthead, Celebrity Deathmatch, School House Rock and tons of the old-school Bugs Bunny cartoons. I know a lot of those shows aren't that old, but neither am I, so whatever.

ninja turtles, thunder cats, GI joe, transformers, jace and the wheel warriors.

Spongebob Square Pants is probably the worst cartoon ever made....About the time that cartoon came out was when Nickelodeon wasn't worth watching anymore.

Oh! Courage the Cowardly Dog!!!!!

I forgot all about Cartoon Network!

I also liked Space Ghost Coast to Coast

Cow and Chicken?

Kablam was fun! Life with Loopy and Justice League Now where my favs on there!

First off, not to pick on the OP, but when a twenty year old refers to something as "back in the day", it makes me feel old.

I think I was about eight years old before I knew it was called, or referred to Saturday as Saturday. Up until then it was always Cartoon Day.

YUCK! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Several weeks ago, my friends and I were discussing old cartoons and I brought this one up but couldn't remember the name. They all looked at me like I was crazy. :loon: Ha! I'll show 'em now.

But yeah, Saturday mornings, I was glued to the TV with a bowl of cereal in my lap until Soul Train came on at eleven, then it was outside to play and act out all the stuff I'd seen that morning with my friends.

Some of my favorites
Super Friends
Capt Caveman
Thundarr the Barbarian
Fantastic Four
Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends
Clue Club
Fang Face
Godzilla Power Hour
Plastic Man
Alvin & the Chipmunks
Land of the Lost (not a cartoon, but still a Sat. morning staple)
Great Space Coaster
Masters of the Universe
Transformers
Richie Rich
Inspector Gadget
Silver Hawks
Voltron
Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors
Scooby Doo
Centurions
M.A.S.K.
Pac-Man
Pink Panther...

...and I'm sure there's more I just can't remember in my old age.

Actually, Alf did have a short lived animated series, although it wasn't as good as the live action show.

I forgot about Inspector Gadget too! And I do remember Land of the Lost. I liked that show. That was way back when I had my first TV in my room. My parents didn't have cable hooked up in my room so I only had 2 channels and they were PBS and NBC. Atleast I think it was NBC that showed all the cartoons. I just remember it being channel 7. It was the best, because of Saturday morning cartoons and then there was TGIFridays!

since we're talking cartoons from back in the day, does anyone remember this one? there was an episode of woody woodpecker, that was in black white and green. it was a warning on the dangers of mystery medicine ( drugs back in the day). whole thiong was black and white, until he drank from a bottle of ? meds? he found. he then turned green, and had super strength and speed ...for a while, then he'd crash and slop along in the gutters. i recall one scene clearly, he takes a slug from the bottle, and goes to open a window, and lifts the whole brick-face of the building..... can't find it on youtube or anything.... anyone seen it?

edit to add: nevermind, found it "under the counter spy"

I mostly watched spiderman, x-men, thundercats, Jem (well she was truly outrageous!) Though I was addicted to The Family Ness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxjqMZd-BVE and the mr men. Did anyone ever watch nelly the Elephant? All I remenber was loving the intro song.

About Scooby-Doo did anyone here watch the movie? There is a scene that implies that Shaggy and Scooby's smoke Bud. Supposedly, the cartoon implies it because they are always hungry. Gotta love the undertones.

I usually just remember the fart jokes in that movie.

I loved the old Scooby Doo cartoons, especially the ones with celebrity guest appearences from people popular in their time (like Don Knots, The 3 Stooges and my favorite, the Harlem Globetrotters). It would be cool if they brought that thing back to the current Scooby Doo cartoons, if they still have them. Do they still make Scooby Doo?
