I know that perhaps some, if not the majority, of people do not really care if the US&D forum is every reopened; and it's necessity may be somewhat moot in that it appears people are just posting US&D topics in the Zombie Talk forum; however, I just want to renew my reminder that the US&D forum did have a very avid and dedicated following; as such, I'd like to politely renew my request (since ZombieFreeWorld got the original thread closed) that the US&D forum be deleted and reopened. A fresh start for all!

US&D stands for "Undead survival and defense", if you read WWZ, it's more or less what the Japanese Otaku guy was doing before he had to escape. Factoids about zombies and survival, survival strategies and plans, etc. Personally I find it very entertaining and I don't take it SERIOUSLY, like, actually believing that living corpses will rise and I have to keep a cabin in the woods or mountains stocked up, but it's fun cause it allows you to imagine what you would need to do if you were a character in a zombie movie.

Also it's a good source of material and ideas if you ever write a story about zombies. The problem (as I have heard) is that the discussions tended to veer into too much firearms discussion, sometimes got vicious, and eventually some dumb kid said something creepy and distasteful about killing live people (not about post-collapse scavengers). Personally I don't think that's a reason to shut down a whole section, plenty of forums have problems with trolls, flame wars and off-topic bickering and if they were shut down everytime a few people start screwing up there probably wouldn't BE any forums online but hey, I'm not running this place.

For the most part people made sence then there were people that should have stopped talking, But there are people out there that have fought WARS and have had to kill people as called on by their Gouvernments totally legal by internation law. We don't all live by the children's Law!

Id love to see it reopend myself, but I dont think this thread or aproch is doing it any favors, the old thread was locked, why not give it a couple of months befor starting back up .


I would wager there is zero chance of it opening until deadkev is back , so until he is back ( if ever ) it really is a moot point imo.

That's it in a nutshell... If people just stuck to 'Zombie and Guns', instead of just 'Guns', it would probably still be open. :-(

Plus me and my friends talk about this day and night. It is a very interesting topic, my friend does not think they will rise but he is happy to think of what will happen if they did.

that's really not the point. most of us don't know him personally and the business of the forum needs to move on. Whether he just quit or swelled up and exploded isn't really my concern as i didn't know him. i was gone from this forum and nobody noticed.

Trying to shame people isn't appropriate and the basic question of his whereabouts is irrelevant to any but his personal friends. I hope well for him on general principles, but that's about it because he probably had a real life to attend to.

Conversely, we need to attend to what is still going on here.

Those arguing that Kev being missing is not the point are exactly missing the point. He is the administrator, the head honcho. Without him the management of the board cannot continue. Whether you have a personal stake in his well-being, or not, without him the moderators hands are tied. I do not know him either, but I know well enough that without him all the arguing going on about US&D is moot until he returns.

In that case we should just start making posts in one of the other sections and IF he ever comes back transfer them then. If the owner/admin has been gone for a year then this places days are numbered anyway.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time you have heard from the Admins?
I haven't heard from Jason Voorhees for about 10 months; DeadKev 5 months.
IMO, I don't think JV will ever be returning... He had some heavy duty personal issues a while back, and I feel that he has lost all interest in the site.

Actually it's the other way around... DeadKev is the Founder & Webmaster of ATZ.

I've been a member around here for over 4 years now, and I've disappeared for periods up to 6 months... Yeah, I know I wasn't a mod during those times, and Kev responsibility goes way beyond that... However, we're still here... This place isn't cheap to maintain, and the bills are being paid... Besides, for as long as I've know DeadKev, he never spent much time or posted big on the forums anyway... So until there is some formal statement made by DeadKev concerning the future of ATZ, I suggest that we keep on doing what we've been doing around here, and give the gloomy speculating a rest.





In closing....
I'll give this thread another 48 hrs and then it's getting the axe... If anyone has something to add, please make it quick & brief.
