I just read my latest issue of Wizard. "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is a summer 2009 sequel that will be a first of a new trilogy documenting SkyNet's war against humans in a future that's only been glimpsed in the original saga".
Christian Bale is in talks to play a future John Conner. And no Arnie. Getting kinda old to play a Terminator imo.
Sounds great to me and I can't wait.:drinking:

A new Terminator would be a good idea if put in the right hands. If a good enough director does happen to be working on it, I'm right on board. I just don't think that leaving Arnold would be that smart of an idea. That's like having a Rambo film without that mushmouth old fart Stalone.

The SCC Terminator series is doing a great job with the terminators. They can have a lot of different looks, good for disguising themselves. I imagine that they have the 2 exoskeleton models (male/female) but the flesh can take different looks. Could you imagine if all the Terminator looked like Arnie? It would be really easy to see them coming.
Directing is going to be done by some guy McG? Not sure who he is but it says he directed Charlie's Angels. The script is being writen by the guys who did T3, John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
I hope they do a good job with this.
:drinking:
Well, it's good to hear that they are going ahead with this. I recall reading a little while back that they were waiting for Christian Bale to sign on before the project was given the goahead. The more apocalyptic movies the better:).

he directed films like charlies angels and charlies angels 2.. I dont think hes the right guy for the job but whatever.
been following this since the 3rd one came out, could have sworn we had another thread about it:loon:. Christain Bale is set to play John Connor but will not have a huge part. The plot is going to be centered around some new characters. I was hoping they would do Reece but it doesnt seem they are.. And arnold has said he will not come back to do this, not even a small cameo.. oh well.

I'm a little worried about the directer but at least the Angels movie had some good action scenes and stuff. Who knows. Zack Snyder hadn't done much before DotD and 300 and he did a great job. Watchman is his lastest. So i'm crossing my fingers.
I did search for another thread about T4 and was surprised that i couldn't find one.
I wonder how much Matrix scene leftovers will be used for T4. I was thinking that those two post apocalyptic worlds would overlap pretty well.

Another Terminator eh
The premise definatley sounds promising and Christian Bale being attached gives me a fair amount of hope that they'll do this justice. I'd love to see some more back story for Reese as well but Michael Biehn is one of my favourite actors so i'm not sure I could accecpt someone else playing him and like Arnie he's a bit old for the part now.

Crickler,
Check out the TV show for some back story on Reese. They've been dabbling with his story and recently introduced Kyles brother. Damn, i can't think of his name. Conner sends a lot of people back to help prepare for the future, including both Reeses. I'm a fan. Next week 2 hour season ender. I can't wait:eat:

I've been meaning to check out the TV show, but just haven't got around to it. I'll have to give it a go. The Terminator universe definitely has a lot of potential, especially concerning the future war, I'm just worried they'll keep flogging the horse and churn these new films out without worrying how much it affects the current mythos.

Well i read the comics as well and it seems that they try to keep things cannon. Which is super important to me. Nothing pisses me off more than sequels that contradict past events. I collect the Aliens and Predator stuff as well and it never conflicts with past story arcs. In fact it helps flesh out the worlds more. Same goes for Star Wars stuff. Check out Fox.com and see how many old episodes they have available. Maybe you can catch up. Enjoy!!

It'd be nice if Arnold made a cameo appearance, as his character really is what Terminator movies are all about. Glad to hear the films will continue in the hi-tech future, after the world is in ruins from the nuclear explosions.

T1 and T2 are 2 of my 10 favourite films off all time, Terminator 3 should have been about the 2029 war and ended with Reese going through time, that would make the Trilogy amazing, the film should have been made in the late 90's. Dragging it out this long, Loosing Cameron, Schwarzenegger, Hamilton, Wisher and GA Hurd it's just not a Terminator film anymore.

Hell yeah they're making T4!
sounds awesome T1 is in my top ten movies of all time, especially the part where Arnie rips that new wave guys heart out!
If they do it right it will be awesome.

What can I say about the trailer but Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Some part of my brain has hope, I think this is purely down to Christian Bale. But aside from that it looks like one of those Terminator/Mad Max rip offs from the late 80's like Cyborg or Steel Warrior.
Another thing is this films one strength would have been a look at the resistance before the Infiltrators, obvious it's early in the war because of Conner and Reese's ages.
BUT there is a T-800 unit in the credits played by (I have to say the best choice for a T-800 other than Arnold) Roland Kickinger. Thing is every hardcore terminator fan would know that the T-800's came at the end of the war, they where fairly new in T1 and the 600 series had rubber skin. I would prefer to see them, how creepy would something not quite human be acting human.
Guess maybe there flogging the old time travel yet again and having a T-800 from 20XX travel back to 20<<.

Well I am slightly more optimistic after seeing the comic-con panal. (Although Reese looks a little pasty and can't Kate Bruwster age?)
Anyway at least the Director seemed as hung up on all the little details that I was, such as the T-600's etc.

I dont know, i mean i was also disappointed to see the PG13 rating. And im sure im not alone in saying, T3 was a pile of poo haha.
But this film looks different, to me it doesnt actually look like a Terminator film. And if this is to be a new set of films, and im sure the money is there for a trilogy, then it looks set to be a very different series. So maybe this rating will work.

Arnold really added a lot of character/humor/kick@ss-ness to the films, so I'm not sure how it's going to be if he just makes a cameo, but the Terminator series finally goes into the future, so it should be cool to see the characters explore a post-nuclear bomb world.

And I take it all back. The new trailer looks ridiculous. Like a bad Transformers meets mad max. Conner's little speech to the terminator is mega cheesy and they did the one thing they shouldn't have done, try and replace Arnold's exact model, why it could just as easily have been model 068 etc.

The PG-13 deal is old news. Since the last quarter of last year. It was the decision of the flick's producers I believe, due to the guys behind the production of the action figures, PLAYMATES, refusing to produce any merchandise with an "R" rated flick. But it didn't hurt Live Free Or Die Hard, and from what I've seen so so far. It doesn't look like it'll hurt this flick.

Well I thought that basically Terminator 3 was just laying down the story that leads up to Terminator 4. That's what I was thinking. I've heard nothing that would really indicate that they will try to pull a "Star Wars", but then again I don't really read up on movies that much. I'm a more read when it comes to video games. ^^'

I watched this movie last night, and I thought it was fairly good. It wasn't at all as good as parts 2 or 3, but it was still a good change of direction for the series. The one thing I didn't like about the movie was the ending.
Why did they have to leave it open for a sequel? The story didn't make much sense without the time travel involved somewhere.
Overall, I give it a 4 out of 5, just because the scenery was really cool.

how could this resemble a remake of parts 1 and 2? And you didnt see the machines killing loads of people? the're terminators too.
I liked it but felt it needed a thicker plot. It jumped around a bit too much. Characters were played well, arnolds cameo was cool. Christain Bale's lines were a bit over the top at times but overall a good time.
