Yûichi Kanemaru (http://www.duckweed.jp/artist.html)'s The Bloodshot (Aihyôka: chi-manako) is scheduled to have its world première at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (http://www.yubarifanta.com/) (Yûbari Kokusai Fantasutikku Eigasai) - "YIFFF" for short - in Hokkaido, Japan on March 20th. Duckweed K.K. (http://www.duckweed.jp/) (K.K. Dakkuwîdo) is scheduled to release the movie theatrically in Japan on March 22nd.

The screenplay for The Bloodshot was written by Kanemaru and Jun'ichirô Taniguchi, based on a story by Kanemaru and Shinji Kugimiya (who was also the movie's cinematographer). The movie stars Tomoko Tabata, Rie Mashiko, Masayuki Deai (http://www.deaimasayuki.com/), Saaya Ishikawa (http://www.saayaishikawa.com/), Daisuke Nagakura, Shion Machida (http://hba.horipro.co.jp/talent/machidasion.html), Gôshû (http://www.asaikikaku.co.jp/profile/goshu/), Keita Tatsumi (http://www.ks-factory.co.jp/keitatatsumi.html) (who was also one of the movie's producers), Ippei Kanie (http://ippeicycle.hp.infoseek.co.jp/), Masanori Machida (http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~adelie/asamesi/cast/machida/machida.html), Osamu Yamamoto, Ryûshi Mizukami, Chiharu Komatsu (http://www.cast-may.com/chiharu/), Sayaka Yoshino (http://www.spacecraft.co.jp/sayaka_yoshino/), Hiroyuki Ikeuchi (http://www.lespros.co.jp/artists/hiroyuki_ikeuchi/), Ken'ichi Ishii (http://www.vaudeville-show.com/office/ishii/profile.html), Tatsuo Yamada, Naho Toda (http://www.horipro.co.jp/talent/PF013/), Toshie Negishi (http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/toshie/), and Tôru Minegishi (http://homepage2.nifty.com/minegishi/). Yûichi Matsui was responsible for its special make-up effects.

Here's a description of The Bloodshot from the YIFFF website: "Misaki is a popular bar hostess whose policy is to 'live on presents'. She is haughty and wants nothing but the most expensive and exclusive. One night, she finds a rabbit and takes it home, setting off the story of an unimaginable tragedy. It is an 'animal panic horror' film with a new edge presenting an allegory of the worst in the modern materialistic world. This is the first full-length feature film for Yuichi Kanemaru, who has worked as assistant director to Kaneto Shindo, Yasuo Furuhata and Takashi Miike. And Tomoko Tabata's dynamic performance in her first horror movie is a definite highlight."

The Bloodshot (Aihyôka: chi-manako) apparently is the first movie in the Aihyôka series, which also includes Aihyôka: gun-kyu and Aihyôka: nu-meri.
