The 1980s had some of the best horror movies, MTV didnt suck, they had the Head Bangers Ball, the Brat Pack, Michael Jackson did the Moon Walk, and wore only one glove, Miami Vice. What are your favorite things from the 1980s?

favorite part of the 80's ( from what i have heard ) all the radical movements. And less focus on nationalism and racism... everyone just enjoyed life. it was way farther then what we have today. That's the part i would love to come back... though we can leave MJ out of the pickings today... him and his one glove.

The 80's punk was awesome. None of this Good Charlotte boy bands with spiked hair and lipstick bullshit.

There were great cartoons: Thundercats, Jayce And The Wheeled Warriors, Voltron, Go-Bots, Transformers, GI Joe, Blackstar, Thundar The Barbarian, The Galaxy Rangers.... I could go on and on. I love that my daughter showed interest in most of these so I can still watch them now.

There were some great horror films then too. I still think the 70's tops them, but what can you do?

More music: Twisted Sister, The Scorpions, Billy Idol, Quiet Riot.... Yeah. Some good stuff.

That is a kickass album! So many good bands came from the 80's almost all of the good metal and ALL the good punk came from the 80's! Every generation had something cool going on during it except this one what are we going to look back on hip hop, boy bands/pop punk boy bands, Sept 11 and the war on terror, paris hilton, Emo!

Dude, that's great. Man, now I want to break out my Twisted Sister VHS tape. It's got about 6 videos or so on it: I Wanna Rock, Be Cruel To Your School, Leader of the Pack, and We're Not Gonna Take it for starters.

Did anyone catch their Christmas reunion tour? I caught it in Baltimore. They still kicked ass.

In San Francisco (1983) the 49er's had just won the superbowl and the song "Celbration" by CATG was being played.

Even though I'm a Chargers fan.

Gotta agree with Hatefuldisplay. The 80's punk was outstanding! Plus, there were movies like The Decline of Western Civilization 1 & 2, the original Suburbia and other cool shit to watch. Don't get me wrong...There are some GREAT punk bands out right now, but I just don't see any "legends" in the making like Mike Ness, Tim Armstrong or Ian Mackaye anywhere.

I know I'm going to be made fun of for mentioning this, but how about all the great pop one-hit wonders of the 80s? That decade brought some of the best pop songs around from artists like Michael Jackson (before he went crazy), Blondie, A Flock of Seagulls, The Human League, Wham!, Hall & Oates, Cindy Lauper, and dozens of other artists from that catchy era! Now if you excuse me, I'm going to listen to Duran Duran on my computer.

Also a great 80s moment: KISS performing without makeup!

"I was at one of those shows! It was the first one preformed in California without make-up. That was the weekend I first met Kiss and started hanging out with them." :)

"And while you're listing good old 80's bands, don't forget about Missing Persons." :)

Jayce And The Wheeled Warriors -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFEv2mmiRWg

man does that bring back some memmories, what an underated, forgoten classic, sure ninja turtles and gi joe and thundercats rocked , but jace and the wheeled warriors was just as awesome as any of "the big kids on the block"

Now, if I can just get her to sit down and watch Monster Squad with me....

dude, the wolfman has nards !!!

just about everything was better in the 80's, atari, nintendo, damn good music, great cartoons, ALF, Macguyver, the A team, fall guy.

and of course , without a doubt, the single greatest thing from the 80's - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJNC3dgreaU

the 90's built upon some of the things from the 80's but once we got past say 96 / 97 it was just one big down hill slide into the shit pile we are in now , TV and especily music just flat out sucks balls nows, everything is reality TV and hip hop and horseshit.

Even though I had a lot of fun in the 80's (I was in my teens/early twenties) I don't like most of the music and fashions from the era. There were a lot of great movies though. Also, most 80's cars suck.

Along with Dig Dug, Galaga, Space Invaders, Jungle Hunt, Phoenix the list could go on.
