I heard rumblings of this movie a year or so ago, and it was mentioned in the first post of The Rumor Mill thread. Anyway, now that some additional news has come out, I figured we should go ahead and have a thread on it, even though the release date isn't until July of 2009. I originally heard that the cast was to be Will Ferrell, Jack Black and Kirsten Dunst, but it looks like the Jack Black thing was a rumor. Either way, I'll definitely be at this one on opening night!!

will ferrell was kinda funny at first, but now with very rare exception all his roles are exactly the same and by the time the movie is 1/4 of the way over you feel like youve seen it 5 times before.

hopefuly he can turn in a somewhat subdued performance in this one.

I think hes funny. Some of his movies are lame but he always gives some funny stuff up.

I hope they don't make it a comedy.:doh: It's been a while since i watched land of the lost but i don't remember it being a "comedy". Sure they had some fun stuff going on but with the sleestaks (sp?) and Alice the allosaurus and everything else that could kill you in a prehistoric setting it could all get down right scary. You know, for a 5 yr old. :drool:I wonder who'll play Holly?:love: I wonder if she's even cute anymore?:think:

Now in post production with a tentative release date of July 17, 2009. The cast rumors can be put to bed now, and unfortunately Jack Black is not playing Will Stanton. Instead, it stars Will Ferrell, Danny McBride and Anna Friel, but they are not a dad and his two children like the television series. Instead, Will Ferrell is an incompetent bumbling scientist, Anna Friel is his research assistant and Danny McBride is a redneck survivalist type. Still can't wait!!

It's to bad that humans have lost there imagination, with all the remakes being done these days. Maybe they'll find it in the Land of the Lost, i don't know, but I'm getting tired of all these pseudo remakes.:x

I'm definately excited about seeing this movie. I'm a big Will Ferrell fan (especially Step-Brothers :lol: ), and this looks like a good summer flick to see when the weather gets warm again.

Rented it from Netflix and watch it the other night. What else can I say, another than the story was Awfully written. :puke:

I liked the idea of the character alteration of the original Rick Marshall going from outdoorsman to scientist. I also thought the CGI dinosaurs, bugs, and creatures were well done IMO. In addition, I didn't really mind them rewriting 'Holly' and 'Will' into non-siblings which RM just met within 10 minutes before embarking on his adventure. However that's where it ends for me. The story is so chock-full of loose ends, which require some form of explanation, I don't know where to begin. Then things then went from bad to horrible, when the writers tried to force humor down the throats of their audience. Will Ferrell is already a SNL legend. Nobody is arguing that. But I'm sorry to say, he wasn't the least bit entertaining in this film. It's no wonder this one made a tremendous "belly flop" at the box office.

I gave it 2.5 stars out of 10. :puke:

Even though the original series had some comedic elements it wasn't a comedy. I was really turned off when I found out that they switched up the characters also.
