Since getting your hands on some good horror movies on dvd is a pain in the ass here in Belgium, I was wondering where you guys get your dvd's.

Or to put it in another way:
What's the best (cheapest) place to order dvd's online? :)

I usually stick to AMAZON.com unless I see something else say at Walmart or something. I wish that FYE didn't have outrageous prices on movies, because they have a ton of movies. I go there every time I am in the mall, but I am not spending $20 on a movie I can get on amazon for $10, or even at walmart. FYE probably sells Bad Boys II for like $20, when walmart will sell it for $10. I remember I bought 3 movies there once, and I was already out $60.

It's rare that I buy any new DVDs at full retail price. If I have no other choice but to purchase from a large chain, I try to get a friend of relative that works there to hook me up with their discount.

Most of my collection comes from the previously viewed bin at rental stores and used copies from pawn shops. If I'm after a particular title that I don't want to wait for and hope I run across, I usually get it from eBay or Half.com.

I'm a cheapskate when it comes to my movies. I prefer not to pay more than five to seven dollars each if I can help it.

is deepdiscount.com any good? I know hatefuldisplay got burned by them, and thier prices seem to good to be true,

I am looking to buy the day of the dead 2 disc special edition, and it is 20 bucks from most stores online, 15 ish from ebay, and 10 from deepdiscount.com plus deepdiscount has no shiping and handeling,t hat just seems to good to be true.

did anyone else have any bad, or good experiences with them? i would rather spend 20 bucks for a movie i actualy get then 10 for one that never arrives :scare:

DeepDiscount dot com is a good site to get CDs and DVDs........most of the time. Sometimes they have long delays when it comes to shipping out their DVDs (I remember my Mom had to wait 2 months for her Purple Rain CD until she just got one at the store and stopped her online order). They also seem to deliver a lot of DVDs with bad cases (mostly a part of the tab that holds the DVD is broken off, so the disk jostles around in the box if shaken long enough), but I've never had that problem with their CDs. Just as long as you don't order during a major holiday you'll be all right.

Yeah, some people like to stimulate the (local) economy

I mostly buy my DVD's online (amazon.co.uk) and in the stores.

I stay away from buying "new" when i can. I buy a lot of used videos, mostly from FYE, they have thousands of used dvds:). I've been screwed with Ebay selling bootlegs of hard to find DVDs.

Have you tried using Half.com?
It's a subsidiary of EBay, however there are no auctions, and I find their deals to be more reliable (New & Used DVDs & Video)... I have used them quite a bit in the past, and I have yet to be ripped off by them... Also you'll find the shipping prices to be quite fair, unlike on EBay (Standard 1st Class or Media Mail usually). http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/1bnz_smiley.gif

I consider myself to be an experienced Ebay buyer with well over 200 positive feedbacks, all from buying... The trick with Ebay is that you have to really look at a seller's feedback profile before you decide to make a bid on an item.
Things that you should consider are:
The total number of feedbacks they have... The more, the better! - Myself and several other Ebay buyers got stiffed once from a seller who had 40 positive feedbacks and no negatives.
How many negative feedbacks do they have? How many in the last week, month, 3 months, ect... Some sellers start out poorly, but then they start to knuckle under, and become really good business men/women.
If there are a few negative feedbacks, what are the buyers saying?
If the seller has a large business, and has many of the same product, check to see if other buyers have bought that item, and see what they are saying about it in his feedback log.Other things to consider:
Cash, MO, Checks = Usually bad - It's your word against theirs, Paypal = Good - At least there is a record with Ebay that sale was completed.
Is the seller a Power Seller?

May not be of interest generally to you u.s. guys... but I get a lot of my DVDs from www.play.com - one of the cheapest for U.K. stuff.

I also find that some of the big shopping places in the U.K. can be very cheap such as Tesco and Asda (the later being a subsidiary of Wallmart) - the chices there are limited, but the prices are pretty good, and sometimes cheaper than online, so always worht a check before just clicking away with the ol' mouse!
