I got to thinking... Horror movies are almost expected to have lots of Blood in them. Blood is used for the same ends, in the same ways, in most horror films. Sometimes tho, a director will see a new way to utilize splatter for added shock and cinematic value. What was one of your favorite uses of blood in a horror movie? I'll add the first as an example:
Johnny Depp in the original Nightmare on Elm Street getting sucked into the bed, and then a fountain of blood erupting out.

"I Saw Sweeney Todd the other night, and everytime he slashed a throat the blood would squrit EVERYWHERE. The walls, his body, the floor, and it would just keep coming. It was AWESOME!!" :)

Without giving anything away, the use of blood in the last shot of Sweeney Todd was awesome!

"I TOTALLY agree!" :)
"OOOooo! I just thought of another one. The 'Thrashing Barbed Wire' scene in Silent Hill. Splattered blood, body bits, and other gore flying, literally FLYING, everywhere. Truely great use of blood."

I would have to say that the most creative use was in the film Stigmata, when the woman with the crucifix necklace suddenly erupted blood from her hands, feet and back while riding the subway. It might be a tad religious, but you gotta admit that being tortured and wounded by presumibly nothing is pretty cool.

Blood actually became a character in the movie Shallow Ground. Very sweet flick in which blood follows people around in order to connect them to the collective cries of justice from murdered souls.
The spraying of blood, in many horror films, is also used in place of ejaculate as well.

my favorite use of blood in a movie, though not in a traditional splater / squirt way, was the jumping blood reacting to the hot wire in john carpenters the thing, that scene worked very well.

I liked how the Space Vampire Girl escaped from Patrick Stewart by pouring out of his eyes, nose and mouth into her bloody shape. Then she screams and her bloody body splashes to the floor as her spirit escapes the helicopter.

Braindead[Dead Alive], the lawnmower scene apparently the most blood used ever in a horror film.:)

Evil Dead 2, Fountains upon fountains of colorful blood. All over Ash, yet he always managed to stay at least slightly clean. Clean for a guy who's been thrown, beaten, puked on, shat on, and covered in blood at least.
