I don't own the game but i've played the demo and I thought it had a clever scary atmosphere.

It does have potential. Let's just hope that Uwe Boll doesn't get a hold of the directors seat.

just once Id like to see a video game get a decent movie, this game had great creatures and great atmosphere and a great story and tons of movie potential, not sure who could play torque, but I know instead of some hack id like to see someone decent write and direct, why cant just once wes craven or clive barker write and direct a video game movie adaptation?

Yah, that would be awesome, imagine John Carpenter or someone who can actually direct in control of this.
though im not sure what to think since MTV is in control of it
strange, why would MTV be interested in The Suffering?

MTV Films have released quite a few films before so releasing this isn't really a "came out of left field" situation. The MTV brand, it's music and programming are huge. It only makes sense for them to pick up an option to produce a video game adaptation from Midway considering the two companies have a marketing contract with one another.
I think they're off to a great start working with Stan Winston.

As long as Uwe Boll isn't involved with this, I'm all ears on how this turns out. I haven't played the game either, but the story sounds like a great movie form. All I want to know now is who's playing Torque? Maybe Thomas Jane could play the role.

The chances of Boll helming this are slim because he tends to stick to Boll KG properties. Word on the net is an unknown small-timer by the name of Kyle Haarklau will be directing a script co-written with Eli Roth. Whether that's just a rumor or fact is anybody's guess at this point in the game.

on the subject of who should play torque, Ive been following this movie for quite a long while and back in march on the IMDB boards and came up with this
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-1/612047/thesuffering2.JPG
now... since march I have some what rethought my stance, I am not a very big fan of wrestlers acting in movies, and im not so sure batista could act his way out of a wet paper sack if he had a machete and a map, but he does look the part, and has the voice and the demeinor, but im undecided if I would want him to play in it, look at how mediocre the condemed was and how god awful see no evil is wrestlers in movies tends to be bad most of the time.
thomas jane could work posibly, he has the tough guy persona down and has a somewhat grity voice, though honestly I would like to see someone with a bigger frame, going to brainstorm on this one some more, would love to hear others ideas on it.
oh and I think after seeing both house on haunted hill movies there is zero question in my mind that kill joy has to be jeffery combs... the way he looked / acted / talked as vanacut in those movies is EXACTLY the way kill joy should be portrayed, at least in my mind :P

heh didn't know that.
Then at least maybe he can pull off the inmate attitude perhaps.
If it would be a big name though id say the rock, just make him look less clean and give him a 5'o clock shadow.
The Suffering should work really well as a horror flick actually. I'd be up for seeing it.

just watched wrong turn 2, I actualy think Henry Rollins would make a good torque, hes built, he has the look, he has that down and dirty gruff attitude and voice, he may be a little bit on the older side for the role, but they never really say how old torque is.
