If you like bio-pics, then you'll love this movie! If you hate bio-pics, then you'll love this movie!! If "This Is Spinal Tap" and "A Mighty Wind" are up your alley, then this film is next door!!! I'll never watch "Walk the Line" again without Dewey Cox in my mind.
John C. Reilly is superb as Dewey, he plays him from age 14 (!) to 71 and channels Cash, Orbison, Elvis and Will Ferrell into performances that'll make you laugh your ass off-my left cheek is still at the theater!
If you have some knowledge of music history, then this will be even more of a delight from the obvious parodies and gags to the subtle-Planet Records subbing for Sun Records-to stars playing real characters like Frankie Muniz as Buddy Holly!
And where else can you see two Jacks of colors: Jack White as Elvis and Jack Black as Paul McCartney in the same movie?!?
Even the songs made me laugh, the lyrics are hysterical but they sound so perfect for the era when they were sung. I'm adding the soundtrack to my want list.
If you want to see the rise, fall, rise, fall and rise again kind of movie but don't want all that drama that befalls such shows (well, it does have a tragic beginning to set up the character, but don't they all? But the only tears you'll have are from all that laughing!), then this is it! If you love good ol' music from the '50's to the '70's, then you can't miss this! If you want to see if Lyle Lovett still has funky hair, then go! If you enjoy male frontal nudity in your face, then-uh, yeah, purchase that ticket! You won't be disappointed!
