Freakin' fantastic. I love Aesop Rock -- brilliant rapper, with an even better producer in Blockhead -- and this song features indie-rock genius John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats.

Since this is being posted here, you can probably guess what the video's like.

I really like the video, and I really like the sound!

Anything suggestion on what songs I should listen to of Aseop Rock? I can see them quickly becoming a fav band.

Offhand, pretty much all of "None Shall Pass" is great -- esp. Coffee, which you now know, "None Shall Pass" itself, "Catacomb Kids" and "Pigs" (the bonus track).

"Flash Flood" and "No Regrets" are my favorite tracks off Labor Day, and "Winners Take All" and "Rickety Rackety" are my favorites from Fast Cars Danger Fire and Knives.

He's got great flow, and completely bizarre stream-of-consciousness lyrics.

Edit: Incidentally, the singer in the last minute of that video is John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats, and if you like HIM, well, there's nothing else like that in any Aesop Rock album. But "We Shall All Be Healed" is a fantastic Mountain Goats albums.

Also Edit: If you like the beats/production, you MUST check out Blockhead's solo stuff. I came to Aesop Rock through Blockhead, and he's totally fantastic.

I just went and downloaded a WHOLE bunch of their songs, Ill seperate them into albums later, but thanks soooo much for getting me into this. I love it!

John Darnielle, Ive never heard of him until now acutally, but he was a great addition to the song. I'll definately check that Mountain Goat album as well.

Im usually so up to date on music...but in my old age of 22.....jesh/

Ps - Blockhead solo? Cool, Ill check that out too. :)

Don't care for the music, but the vid is pretty cool. Especially dug the Dawn 78 sample at the beginning.

nice video.

funny thing is, I hate hip hop / rap with the deepest blackest parts of my heart and soul, however I have always really liked Aesop Rock and own all of his stuff mainly because he doesnt rap about the typical rap crap , blunts, ho's, 40's and guns - his stuff tends to be deeper and about subjects that actualy mater

Eh... I couldn't get into it.

Well, if we all liked the same stuff, we'd all get bored pretty quickly.

I'm assuming it was the music that threw you... I honestly can't remember a low-budget zombie movie that looked that fun in a decade. The kids in the Kreuger masks, cheap werewolves, zombie brides, bespectacled nerds -- why couldn't Dead & Breakfast have taken some cues from this?

why couldn't Dead & Breakfast have taken some cues from this?
...because Dead & Breakfast was made 3 years prior to "Coffee."

Personally, I love Aesop Rock's stuff. I've been a big fan of Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Eyedea, Jedi Mind Tricks and Non Phixion (R.I.P.) for years. While I normally listen to Chicago gangsta rap, there's nothing like authentic Hip Hop to even out your karma.

god dammit I love hip hop... I've been a huge fan of Aesop Rock and all of the Rhymsesayers and Def Jukies squads for quite some time.

If you like Aesop Rock, I HIGHLY suggest you check out Grayskul - http://www.myspace.com/grayskul

and also EL-P - http://www.myspace.com/elproducto

and...just for shits and giggles, check out a zombie hip hop song I produced with some friends. It's called 'Acre of the Undead' - http://www.myspace.com/mackhobbproductions

word.
