The official website for Greg Connors' The Dark Lurking is now online, although at present it's just a home page. The movie, which is being produced by Filmwerx 77 Pty. Ltd. (http://www.filmwerx77.com/) of Australia, is in production. (Filmwerx 77 was founded by Connors, the abovepictured Bret Kennedy, and Stuart Wall.) Russell Sharp of Sharp FX (http://www.sharpfx.com.au/) is responsible for its prosthetic effects.

Here's a synopsis for The Dark Lurking from Filmwerx 77's website: "Something has gone terribly wrong at outpost 30, a secret international research facility some five hundred meters beneath the snow blown arctic wilderness. All communications are gone, all means of escape destroyed and an extremely dangerous horde of ancient creatures is on the loose after a doorway to an unspeakable evil has been unleashed. ¶ Eight survivors, two former research patients, three SOCOM Troops, two research technicians and a cleaner barricade themselves inside a remote area of the facility with little food, almost no ammunition and little hope of rescue. ¶ Their one possible escape route is through thirteen levels of terror that will lead them to the surface. ¶ And one of them is not who they seem to be, the darkness itself which has taken human form."

Here's a description of The Dark Lurking from the MySpace official page for the movie: "800 meters beneath the Antarctic surface research station 320 has gone offline. Now hundreds of ravenous and constantly mutating creatures with a taste for human flesh have been let loose and 8 survivors must climb through 13 levels of hell to reach the surface. The Dark Lurking smells like Aliens and looks like the Thing!"

Connors' previous directing credits include the short "Netherworld", which Kennedy starred in. Here's a synopsis for it from Filmwerx 77's website: "What would happen if the almighty bet the fifth millennium on the outcome of a rigged boxing match? ¶ The archangel Gabriel works hard, pays the rent and occasionally moonlights as a boxer in the ratings winning ARENA fight tournament. ¶ After he is told to throw the fight, Gabriel decidedes he's had it with his employer and kicks his opponents ass. After being sentenced to limbo Gabriel makes a deal that will get him back to the Netherworld. The only problem, an army of Angels that stands between him and his final destination."

This sounds a bit like Shadow Puppets and The Shadow Walkers with a bit of John Carpenter's The Thing but I'll probably check it out anyhow.

When I see the name in front of the title...it scares me.

Here's a synopsis for The Dark Lurking from MultiVisionnaire Pictures' website: "Outpost 320, located one mile beneath the earth, the researchers make a critical error and something has now gone terribly wrong. All communications are gone, all means of escape destroyed and an extremely dangerous horde of ancient creatures is on the loose after a doorway to an unspeakable evil has been unleashed. ¶ Eight survivors, two former research patients, three mercenaries, two researchers and a medic barricade themselves inside a remote area of the facility with little food, almost no ammunition and little hope of rescue. ¶ Their one possible escape route is through thirteen levels of terror that will lead them to the surface. And one of them is not who they seem to be, but the darkness itself which has taken human form."

That plot sounds almost exactly like something I've seen as a SCI-FI channel original Saturday night movie.
