I'm sure most of us have read this Clive Barker short story and have heard that the movie was being made. In case you haven't, The story features a commuter's run-in with a New York subway serial killer and a horde of subterranean cannibals. I read the story out at sea years and years ago, so I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I'm still excited as hell just to see something from Clive Barker getting a major release again...

Man, I've been waiting for this for the last two and a half years now! I cannot wait for this to see the light of day. I know Barker is working on producing MANY of the shorts he worked on for the Books of Blood series and that just tickles me bloody. Clive Barker is, hands down, my favorite horror fiction writer. This flick outta be entertaining if anything.

OMFG!!! ROTFLMFAO!!!

I haven't read the story but it looks & sounds like a hell of a thrill ride.
I absolutely love the poster art! So cold & sterile with a splash of blood to warm the ocular experience.

Not sure if anybody noticed this or not but this is being directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, director of Down to Hell and it's popular sequel, Versus.

I had no idea Versus was a sequel. Is Down To Hell available on DVD?

Not in the U.S. You can scoop a copy here though I'd have no idea how the quality is.

Meat Train finally got a release date of May 16, 2008. That's a helluva long wait, but I guess better late than never!:x

curious to see how it's handled. the original story has quite a few moments that are not in any way, shape, or form even close to being mainstream. will the more hideous aspects survive, or will this be a watered down version suitable for the masses? I'm hoping it'll be true to the story

It seems kind of lame. If I was a serial killer I definitely wouldn't want someone taking my picture while I hack someone to death? Plus with all that meat, why would anyone want to eat human flesh? Makes me think ,where the horror industry is going with these type of movies coming out?

Awesome new pic!!! I'd give anything to see the rest of that hacked up body at the bottom!! Be sure and take note of the skinned corpses hanging by their feet in the background!

I remember this story very clearly. I won't give away the plot to those who haven't read it, but the killer isn't just some random whackjob; he kills for a *very* good reason.

This is an old thread but has anyone else seen this movie and if you haven't you should. :drinking: I will be adding this to my collection for sure.

I just finished watching this and I was very pleased. Like Chewy says there is a reason to the madness. Pretty creepy with some awesome kills. :scare: RIP and ZS will definitely dig this slasher and basher!! :eat:

I wasn't expecting the ending that's for sure and up until then it was, what the F is going on, this is kinda cool but I don't know what's going on. The ending was a bit of wtf at first, then I saw that Clive Barker wrote this, then it all made sense...:eat:

I thought it was one of the better more original slasher films...

It's got some good kills and some GREAT gore but it provides no background on the cannibals at all, which IMO was what made the original story so memorable.

******ATTENTION SPOILERS******

Okay last night I watched Midnight Meat Train and liked the characters and the train sequences in the film. The CGI kills were pretty well done imho but the ending to the film was a bit disappointing.

I think they could have come up with a better ending than that. What the hell were those underground things? They looked liked C.H.U.D. retards in it.

It had no explanation to what they were or why they were being fed. Hell, they could have sent the army underground and whiped out those things instead of feeding them.

The ending made no sense to me. I would have rather seen Vinnie Jones get killed at the end on the train and that be the end of it lol.

Rewatch it, they mention a little of what it's all about, listen to the conductor....

But I do agree with ya about the ending it was a little bit of WTF....would have liked to know more....:drinking:

The story had a little more explanation to it, when I heard that it was being made into a film I didn't expect them to make that a big focus...
I enjoyed the gore, but prefered the book story to the film...I still thought it was good though.
They should have done that in 3d not that my bloody valentine...that were gash.
Swinging corpses in 3d ftw :drinking:

I only watched about 30 minutes before turning it off. He wasnt picking the types of people he was supposed to (in the story).. how hard was that filmakers. Good lead actor. Bad CG.

by reading your guy's replies it seems like they stuck true to the wierd ass ending.

The only thing that really bugged me with Midnight Meat Train was some of the kills, when they went from freaky angling that made your skin crawl, to trying to show u with CGI; CGI on the movie bugged the shit out of me.
I enjoyed it as a Clive Barker adaptation, worth a second viewing, I wouldnt buy it though because I'm cheap lol :drinking: Cheers to it though

It was great to see Vinnie Jones, having been in quasi-comedic roles in EuroTrip, the Shakespeare-inspired She's The Man, and as the Juggernaut in the third and worst X-Men movie, reclaim his sceptre of badd-assery. Welcome back, Vinnie.

The CGI was pretty bad on the scene with Ted Raimi, but Vinnie Jones was great and so was Bradley Cooper. I enjoyed this overall.
