"I wanted to make a kind of French Deliverance. You can't make a film like this with half-measures. It's full-on or nothing. This film is a smack in the face of boring, consensual French cinema. You can't make it with the brake on. After High Tension and Maléfique, it was time for another film that socks the audience on the chin. A film that will slap audiences around for 90 minutes so that they realize that we can make this genre in France, too!" - Xavier Gens (http://www.xaviergens.com/)

Xavier Gens' Frontier(s) (Frontière(s)) has been added to this year's After Dark Horrorfest line-up. The movie had its world première at Les Hérault du cinéma - Le festival du film d'Agde (http://www.agdecinetele.com/cinematelevision/) in Cap d'Agde, France on July 1st, and its international (i.e., outside-of-France) première at the Toronto International Film Festival (http://www.tiff07.ca/) (TIFF) on September 7th.

The screenplay for Frontier(s) was written by Gens. The movie stars (subtle spoilers) Karina Testa, Maud Forget, Estelle Lefébure, Amélie Daure, Patrick Ligardes, Samuel Le Bihan, Joël Lefrançois, Jean-Pierre Jorris, Aurélien Wiik, Chems Dahmani, David Saracino, and Adel Bencherif.

Here's a synopsis for Frontier(s) from the production: "While an extreme right-wing candidate advances to the second ballot of the presidential election, a group of young armed robbers holes up in a backwoods inn. The inn is located in an old mining wasteland, and its managers are a particularly sordid lot [to wit, (neo-)Nazi cannibals]."

I've been waiting on this one forever! I'm glad to see After Dark Horrorfest picked it up. The new lineup this year looks good. I'm looking forward to Unearthed and I've already seen and reviewed Nightmare Man.

Yeah, this and Unearthed should prove to be a couple of potentially great flicks to see at the theatre. I'm well up for this one:)
