Ok, so here are some questions about one of my favorite movies of all time....
I own the vhs version and the older dvd version. Has anyone seen the new dvd version that was just released? Is it worth buying it again? How good or bad are the zombie subtitles?
There was a site up called Trioxin 245...but I am not sure if it is around anymore. It had a lot of good info about the film
One of the main questions is...when the film starts and the screen states that the events are based on a true occurence, what was the true occurence? Where the filmmakers just making it up for the horror effect?

Well the biggest one you asked was is it worth buying again and I did say; "So really, the new features aren't worth really double dipping BUT the commentary with the cast is pretty good."

Thank you. :) I will just save my money for another possible zombie dvd....maybe I can find something good but cheap on ebay.

Not to be mean but...where you seriously wondering if the "Based on a True Story" disclaimer was real?

Horror stories are often "loosely" based on real events. True, they are often stretched and distorted so much that they don't even resemble the real occurence, but still....
I saw a site dedicated to ROTLD (though it is no longer up and running), and they mentioned something about the chemical that was discussed in the movie being real. And since very few horror movies say that they are based on true events, I figured maybe there is something more to the story...not reanimation of course, but maybe some sort of true to some part of the story
And yes, you are being mean even if you "say" you aren't.....

Ha! Very true.......
Of course, like I said in my post, I don't think that the movie was entirely based upon real events. I was asking if just something real was used in some way when making the film.
Sort of like how Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on some of the evil and horrible things done by Ed Geins.

To sort of clear things up, it was a joke by O'Bannon furthering his comedic take on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD being based on a true story in the film.
It's purely there for comic value.
