I just received a copy of a movie called Alien Dead at my store. Has anyone ever heard of this movie? It looks like a super low budget alien/zombie flick. It has Buster Crabbe, the original Buck Rogers in it.

Anyone have any info? Is it worth 10 bucks?

I haven't seen this in a long time, but from what I can remember, this is a really bad Zombie film. The movie is characterized by Zombies, rising up after a meteor hits a houseboat, and then proceeding to attack a small Florida community. Low budget you say? These horrible looking Zombies may look crummy, but they're built to last. The townies proceeded to shoot them with a dozen rounds, so the're indestructible right? Well, not if you choose to beat them with a boat oar there not. I wouldn't waste my money on this crap, but I've seen people give good reviews, to some movies on this site, I consider to be incomprehensible. :?

Yeah, this definitely isn't one of the better ones. I remember a scene where the zombies are, well...not exactly chewing...lets say"mouthing" this girl's arm and pawing ineffectively at the rest of her while she's flat on her back. Though there are no apparent wounds on her that could cause such a thing, blood comes gushing out of her mouth. Baffling. I remember that oar bit as well.

Kind of a sad swan song for Buster Crabbe, but hey...he's not the first or the last actor/actress to have their last film appearance be crap.

This means that you're gonna have to muster all your salesmanship, and find some poor dope coming into your store, to pawn this off on. I find it hard to give a movie a really bad review, no matter how much it sucks. I'm like the old Roger Ebert. The way he was before Siskel croaked. The shittier the movie, the more I like it. :mrgreen:

I have a somewhat of a different philosophy on that take. Yep, I run out and buy a whole lot of low budget horror films, and I sit through most of them (painfully, sit through). Hey, I'm sorry, but I'm a tough bastard when it comes to grading these. Whether it's a Zombie film, or some other horror flick, with a larger budget, I give nobody a break. I know some horror critics give favorably high ratings, to some of this stuff, but let me ask the question: "why give something a high praise, when you know that you'd rather be covered in flesh eating slugs, then have to sit through it again?" Hey, it just my opinion. :-|

Actually, it wasn't a video store per say. It was a big box entertainment store that did about 15 million a year. Think something the size of Walmart that only sold movies, books, video games, electronics, and music. I was the GM there for about 4 years. It used to be a great job.

Due to the economy, and the slow death of the cd market, the company has really fallen on hard financial times. Our benefit costs went up, our bonuses went down, we were expected to work longer hours, and my new boss was a complete bitch. I've been really toying with the idea of moving to New Orleans for years. I went in Monday, got into with my regional manager over the phone, and just decided it was time for a change. I have a real hard time working somewhere where I am unhappy, especially when I am the one in charge. If I don't want to do it, how can I ask anyone else to? So, I am now scouring Monster.com for management jobs in New Orleans, and being a kept man!

Its just a great city. The whole feel of it is indescribable. I go down every year for Halloween, and usually about 4 or 5 more times over the course of the year. I live in Atlanta right now, which has become the most characterless city imaginable. If you're not involved with the hip hop culture, the city pretty much sucks. I like going to the industrial or underground bars. When I first moved down here, everyone looked like gothic supermodels. Now its just a bunch of fat girls in pleather corsets whipping each other on stage. There's now real place to hang out or do anything.

Yea, I'm from Houston. The heat and mugginess are old hat to me. I love N.O., too. I used to go there every year in high school and college. I entertained thoughts of moving there once, but I went to L.A. instead. Good luck, man.

At least your memory of the flick will be fragmentary at best, but then again, I've seen tremendous amounts of alcohol make people think, and do some of the most profound things.

It never ceases to amaze me how much we love this genre despite utterly hating about 95% of all the films that fall under it.

How hard can it be to pull off an entertaining film about cannibalistic dead bodies? And yet, almost all of them are utter shite!

Even more strangely, despite endless disappointment, we continue to buy movies that deep down we know will be awful in the vain hope that one might turn out to be so bad its good. To look at this from a psychological perspective, its almost like a cycle of behavioural reinforcement - we go through maybe 10 lousy zombie films for every one decent flick, and each time we start thinking the genre is not worth it, we happen across a good one that reinforces our love of the genre. Hence, we're really losing more than we're gaining by spending all this time on zombie films. Oh well... anyone know if Alien Dead is out in the UK? :mrgreen:

OMG, I watched this utter piece of garbage last night and man was it SHIT! Pardon my french so to speak but this was the worst pile of shit zombie movie that I have EVER seen.

I have to say, I've seen some crap in my time. I've been exposed to films that the surgeon general was concerned might physically harm people due to it being THAT bad. And there's only one other film that can be as bad as this one...and even this is better than that but still. If you don't know what film I'm talking about, the temptation to tell you grows but also deflates as the fear you might actually seek the film out to see if it's that bad, take my word for it - it is.

Anyways, this is one of those movies you either hate or hate. I don't think there's an in between on this one. We get folks with the worst Southern accents I've ever heard, rubber mask zombies that have been under water and have amazingly clean clothes and the ability to dry off at an incredible rate, laughing zombies - not intentional mind you - and so much more that make this truly one of the worst zombie films I've ever had the displeasure of viewing. It's just bad. There's no other way of putting it. It's a terrible film that no one should have to experience. This, along with the nameless zombie film, should be used to torture prisoners of war into giving out their government's secrets - yes it's THAT bad and so is the other film.

This is the worst zombie film I have ever seen and yes I do own it on dvd. I think it's directed by the crappiest director since Ed Wood in being Fred Olen Ray. This film is terrible from the get go. The acting is the pits and I mean I can take a good crap and enjoy it better than this shitola of a film.:poo::poo::puke::lol:
