Forest of the Dead, The Quick and The Dead, Zombie Chronicles

I picked these up today. Who's seen them? What can I expect?

Got confused for a bit when I saw evilzombie20's review of Forest Of The Dead - since that is also the subtitle for Severed (which I thought was the film in question). Severed: Forest Of The Dead is worth watching if you can locate a copy - for an independant zombie flick, it's got pretty good production values, solid zombie makeup, and is - on the whole - worth watching. Sure, it doesn't offer anything new to the genre (the influences are pretty obvious, as are the cliches) - but I've seen alot worse.

I really thought you were saying that about Forest of the Dead then I re-read your post, *phew* you almost got one hell of a verbal beating...I mean talking to, I mean - I respect your opinion and that's all that matters. :)

Severed: Forest of the Dead was pretty good, worth buying. The Quick and The Dead was also a good movie I thought. Zombie Chronicles... ugh... horrible, low budget garbage with a blurry picture because of some pseudo 3D crap that was added.

severed was only any good if you can overlook total idiocy on the part of the characters. folks in a large suv that are turned back to sure death by the zombie menace by a locked gate.........

you would think they would just drive through it, i guess that was a really expensive paint job. maybe they should have gone back and got one of the large pieces of logging equipment and torn out the gate and put it in the bed of the suv so they could erect it in front of any zombies that they would encounter, and so save themselves from the evil tree chemical zeds.

I don't know what you mean. I've never really been away - I just don't post as frequently as I used to :)

Well, I guess I'm somewhat biased toward Severed since it didn't look like some total amateur making a movie in his backyard with his pocket money for budget - seen too many of those over the years. Yes, some of the characters were idiotic - but you'll always get those (a certain guy in a Mexican hat, in a certain genre classic, using a blood pressure machine in the middle of a zombie invasion springs to mind). :)

I was wrong. I grabbed a stack last night and only got some. I actually got The Dead Next Door (see thread, there hasn't been one yet), Zombie Cronicles (****ing bad, and not in a jivetalk kinda way), Night 1990 (always rented, now I own), and Island of the Dead (stupid, and NOT a zombie movie... it looked good for the first 45 minutes, then it stopped making sense... "ravenous dead" my ass).

severed had too much of a "takes place in a vacumn" flavor for me. and the characters were so stupid that they were unrealistic even for a zed film. it needed much better writing. it could have, even should have been better.

Yup. I must have put Forest and Quick and the Undead back in favor of The Dead Next Door and Night '90. Glad I did.
