Me and my friends have made a few zombie shorts (among other kinds) over the past few years... Unfortunately, those were made when my idea of editing was rewinding the tape and recording over the previous take. They ended up pretty funny (mostly because we were about 10 years old), but they were garbage even more so. Anyhoo, I recently started to take an interest in making a longer zombie movie (hoping for at least an hour). I'm part way into the script writing, but I keep looking at the title I have chosen and think it needs changed. I chose Ambulothanatophobia (the fear of zombies) and its a mouthful. I would have used Necrophobia or Thanatophobia, but the former is the name of another movie (not even about zombies... a wasted opportunity if you ask me), and the later is both an episode of Aeon Flux (I did some research) and the name of an album for a heavy metal band. I want to avoid the use of anything that smacks you over the head with the fact its a zombie movie (stuff like dead, blood, -fest, etc.). Just for a little background, the movie follows a high school kid that gets picked up by others (some of which eventually get killed/replaced). The group starts out by having to find a safe haven (the highschool), but they get run out fairly soon enough. I was thinking to have a time jump after that... I got a lot of ideas that need put on paper... I'm hoping to make it based mostly on characters (The Walking Dead Comics are the inspiration for that). Anyway... title... need a new one...

PS: This is my first post... Its a bit lengthier than I imagined...

Ambulothanatophobia - too much of a mouthful
Fear of Zombies - not bad

If school plays a large part in the movie, I'd try to work that into the title. Unfortunately, my brain isn't working right so I keep coming up with bad titles like "After School Dead-tention". See, told ya. Closest normal title was "Stuck at School".

You shouldn't be too concerned about a title already being used -especially if the subject matter of the film is entirely different.

For example, how many movies do you think there are out there called "the Dark"? 5 in the past 20-some years including a slasher flick, an alien stalker flick, a ghost flick, a demon-in-the-graveyard flick and a shadow-monster-thingy flick. If you find a title that you think really works I say go for it. ;-)

How about Caution: Beware of Zombies.

There's a whole bunch of movies called "Labyrinth" or "the labyrinth", too- so overuse of a name isn't so big of a deal-
but I agree, the one you have right now is a major mouthful.

i really don't know too much about the plot- though the outline you gave is an alright one..
only thing that jumps into my head is "surviving the unsurvivable"- although i'm not sure why.

What you want to do is pick a name that alludes kind of to the plot, maybe to the ending or an important event, unless it's intended to be a zomedy. (in which case you can name it whatever you want)

Like I've got my book/movie thing that me and my friends are writing- it was given the title "Final Absolution" because it's about coming to terms with reality and making up for mistakes

sicne you're lookig for soemthing that's not incredibly obvious.. I'd stay away from the whole *insert prefix*-phobia, here. unless you're going with somehting like fear of Fear or something that, at first glance, is unrelated to the undead. like
Gephyrophobia- fear of crossing bridges (could be translated as "change") (word for fear of changes is longer than that)
this one is a mouthful, too, but: Automatonophobia; which is a fear of things that inaccurately represent sentient beings- like clowns and dolls, and potentially zombies
Demophobia- fear of crowds: in the case of a zombie outbreak.. this is somehting you'd wanna stay away from ><
Leukophobia- fear of the color white (zombies="white")
Phagophobia- Fear of swallowing or of eating or of being eaten.
-- anyway- you get the jist ><
*kicks the long post*

I would wait until the film was complete and base the title on the finished work. If you haven't even got the script complete you may find you'll want to go in a completely different direction with your characters ,which your currently chosen title won't reflect.
