I read about this one on DVD. How's the zombie fx and gore scenes compared to a classic like Day of the Dead or Dawn of the Dead 78?

I went to a local film festival he attented years ago and I felt really bad for the guy...people were laughing at the film, not with it. He did this long Q and A and it wa really kind of sad to see him so passionate about what he was showing.

It's okay. Acting was bottom of the barrel and the story of just having Hinzman buried in a shallow grave then sit up, start going "Rarrr!" and begin biting people on the neck and walking away is well... standard I guess.

Typical 80's schlock-fest, nothing special, and an ending that mirrors Night of the Living Dead is just... blah. I have it on VHS as Revenge of the Living Zombies and seen it once, that's good enough for me.

I have a soft spot for this flick (maybe it's in my brain?). My buddies and I have referred to Hinzman's zombie character in NotLD as "Artie" since we first saw it in the 70s, mostly because he looked like a regular guy who might be named Artie, you know? We thus refer to Flesheater as "Artie's Zombie Movie", and we had a few laughs, and more than a few beers, on our first viewing a few years back, and remember it fondly.

Just this past weekend, during a bout of insomnia, I had this weird idea that I would watch the 15th-worst zombie flick I could find on my shelf, admittedly an arbitrary selection process. Flipped through 52 flicks, and then realized I had a lot of crappy zombie movies, so I just picked one I thought would make me sleepy without angering me (this eliminated Alien Dead, Hell of the Living Dead, the entire Zombie Pack, and many more) so I just popped in Flesheater. I tell you, as lame as the premise is, it has its moments. And Artie kinda still looks like the guy from NotLD (it's only 20 years later) - unlike the atrocious attempt to blend his bloated late 90's corpse into the blasphemous 30th anniversary hack job version of Night. So rent it, or buy it cheap, and get some beers, and try not to feel bad for the guy whose defining moment in life seems to have been playing "Cemetery Ghoul" so many years ago. At least he gets to chomp on a lot of unclad women in the film.

i've said it before and i'll say it again. I like this film.

It's just so perfectly typical of how i imagined zombie films before i particularly got into the genre.

Do not get me wrong I loved the film.
I also love the zombies head exploding like a baloon.
I also have seen burial grounds but that movie was highly creepy in my eyes.

As bad as this movie might be, there are a lot of zombie movies that are much worse than this.

Someone at NetFlix hates it. I tried renting it 4 times. Every single copy that arrives was broken to pieces. I examined them closely each time to make sure they weren't just lazily re-shipping the same disk each time. After 4 attempts I gave up.

I have this dvd and I actually love watching this corny ass flick. It has some bad acting and bad dubbing in it but this is a cool ass beer drinking zombie flick.

The music in this film was also really enjoyable and reminded me a little bit of Halloween theme song. The film does has some decent gore in it for being a low budget flick.

Bill Hizman did a good job in it as the lead zombie and the party scene in the barn towards the end was hilarious. The couple that are dancing are a riot to watch lol. The guy is so damn cheesy dancing.

All I gotta say is if you love 80's films and love CHEESE and BEER then you should like this film!!!!:drinking::lol:

I have this on VHS but it goes under the title Zombie Nosh in the UK. I like this film also, sure it is cheesy & has bad acting but those things are whats good about low budget horror films.

I've acually never heard of this movie, but I might see it just for the heck of it.

Hey, didn't the director of this film also direct Children of the Living Dead? I might be one of the only people in history who thought that movie was good.

No, Tor Ramsey directed Children, Flesh Eater was directed by Bill Hinzman.

here is the trailer for FLESHEATER http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnQuOUCkvJ8

look at how 'deep' Bill's coffin is buried! :) If you can see, he is wearing shoes that are zip-up ankle boots popular in the 80's. But his character is a zombie supposedly buried for decades !
