When it comes time for shooting my firstindie film,my biggest area of concern will be a scene that will call for a character getting shot "Squib Charges" and a character using a handgun "Shooting Blanks".From the standpoint of the camera's point of view the character that would be using the gun would not at all be seen in the same frame when shooting the blanks but for safety concerns I have as well as who I should have present at the scene for the shoot how do I go about through the town police dept to have permission to shoot the blanks legally...I would think I need a gun wrangler/firearms instructor and police officer present. For the squib charges I would need a pyrotechnic present. How do I go about contacting these parties and contracting them ?? Any help with would be greatly appreciated.

It probably all depends on where you are from.

I should think that if you go to your local police station and explain to them what you are doing then they would probably be happy to help you with your quandry.
