Favorite Evil Dead Movie?

Evil Dead II hands down. a great late night movie. I loved the part of his decapitated girlfriend dancing, and the Room Laughing with Bruce Campbell. For some reason I dont like to get high before I watch Evil Dead II. It freaks me out if I do, and I cannot watch it.:evil:

I like all of them for different reasons. one for being flat out balls to the wall horror. 2 for being funny as hell. and 3 for having Ash being a total badass/goofball.

Number one is my favorite though.

I'd have to vote for Evil Dead 2 as well - although Sarah Berry's incessant screaming grated on my nerves quickly, and it's a shame that some of the gore got muted (green blood, and Ed's partial decaptitation slightly trimmed). But it was the film in which Ash really became Ash, and the first part of the film where he goes slowly insane remains classic.

The Evil Dead for sentimental reasons:lol: A true horror tour de force. Saying that, it is a tight run thing between the first and Evil Dead 2 as I do love the sequel. The first just pips it though for me.

I consider part 1 to be a superior horror movie; I still have issues with watching it after dark. As far as favorites go, I'd have to say part 2 tops my list. It's just a fun flick.

I gotta go with ED 2 myself, maybe because I saw it first and it's the only one I saw at the theater. I think it has the best combination of scares, gore and humor of the three films.

Gotta go with part 2 as well. Although the scene with Ash's possessed sister and the pencil in part 1 really does make me think twice about my vote. Someone should start a poll on this thread!

I never really liked Army of Darkness. I dunno, just something about it.

ED1 is my favorite, much scarier in my opinion, although I do love the comedic value of ED2 (I can't remember how may times I rewound the scene where Ash dances up and down with the table lamp).

That's a really hard choice. I love 'em all but ED2 seems to be a happy medium for me. A perfect balance of horror and slapstick.

The Evil Dead, for horror.
Evil Dead Dead by Dawn, for pure genius.
and Army Of Darkness for comic value.

As everyone on this thread, my favorite one is 2.
I have one question: Is evil dead really a trilogy? Because evil dead 2 has almost the same story as evil dead 1, it just seems like its the same movie made with more resources.

Evil Dead is such a different film than either of its sequels, I don't think it's a fair question to ask for a favorite between the three. Now between ED2 and AOD I'd choose ED2 by a chin (:lol: ). It's more subtle and better blends horror and comedy. Ask me about my favorite straight-horror movies and Evil Dead will be high on the list.

I love all three movies with a passion, but I have to choose the original as my favorite. When I saw that movie for the first time, it completely changed the way I looked at horror movies and zombies as well. It somehow gave me a better appreciation for them. So I definitely go with number one.

I heard about this movie a bit ago and i thought "oh cool a zombie movie" but then i saw that they werent really zombies so i didnt like it all that much- i kind of liked army of darkness though.

Wow . . . I don't recall the last time I heard someone say they didn't like the Evil Dead movies. Not saying anything against you, just saying it's a fringe opinion. Honestly I admit I can see how someone wouldn't like them.

1 is low-budget (though very well done for what he had to work with) and that just doesn't fly for some folks. They want the tight fx and good lighting and all that. 2 is campy and crazy and the horror-comedy hybrid really isn't for everybody.

Personally I love all three (ED 2 is my favorite). But to each their own I say.

I like the crazyness in ED2. It's almost as good as Braindead!
