Hi I'm Pete and new to this forum. I just had to have my say and see if there are any others who agree with me... I have been an avid horror film freak for as long as I can remember, especially the zombie movies... However, I can never help but notice that surely even the great Romero could do so much better at creating convincing zombies... I refer to the most recent effort "Land of the Dead" although there have been many other examples throughout his movies. Take the main zombie character. Now being the main zombie character in a zombie movie, I would have expected the special effects team to go all out when it came to them. But what do we get here. A garage attendent who we are expected to believe has been dead for god knows how long and yet apart from a nasty looking and unbelievable set of sharp nashers on the front of his face, the black guy playing tha role could have been one of you or I. He didn't appear in any way to me to be exactly in a state of long term decoposition at all... This is not an isolated case either. If you look at most of Romero's movies in depth, you can usually see that most of the time quick filming tecniques etc. have been used to cover lack of good make-up. In fact if you ever look at a general zombie crowd scene, most of them look as though they all had a very quick spray dusting with a green paint gun and not much else... I love zombie movies and stories, but please... It has to be halfway believable to achieve the full effect surely???
