Nothing in the like at all. It's a Britcom (British Comedy) and, to me, it's damn funny. I've been eating up my Netflix time watching the series from the beginning. If you're looking for another serious space odyssey type of show though then it might not be up your alley.

They're painful entertainment. Out of the three 2 is the best and that one's still bad. The bloopers for part 3 are better than the entire movie. Part 1 is cut on DVD though. It's not gore, mostly dialogue - I've never been so thankful to see a movie cut by the way.

Just took a stab at watching Zombie Night.
I couldn't finish it. The makeup FX were actually pretty good for low/no-budget direct-to-video schlock. It was the acting that got me. Horrible. I literally heard better from my drama class when I was in 7th grade. It was so painful to watch that I had to shut it off.
And the script... OMFG. On more than one occasion I thought they had cobbled it together from the scrawlings of some of our less talented members here on ATZ. Convenient radio broadcasts, convenient survior who just so happened to have plenty of supplies all packed up in grocery bags six weeks after the outbreak, 10 well-armed survivors who had never seen each other before they come trickling into the room one after the other...
Painful to watch. I was stuffing marshmallows in my mouth so that I wouldn't grind my teeth together. Even Redneck Zombies had more going for it.
I made it to the 25-minute mark before I had to shut it off. Most of that time was spent watching it on fast-forward. Anybody who tries to watch more than that (if any at all) is a hopeless masochist.

Irrevsible - 7/10 - I think this was the most twisted and darkest movie with a big budget/known actors I've ever seen.

Silk - Decent. It had some cool sci-fi trappings and the ghosts were interesting though it did occasionally get a bit muddled with too many unclarified details. I've been noticing that more and more in film these days. It's like writers feel obligated to add unnecessary detail in order to "explain" things and many times just muck things up.

How good would you say the characters in the movie match up to the characters in the book. I thought Stephen King did a pretty good job in casting in The Stand Mini Series.

Yeah, i would agree that most of the characters were casted pretty good, although i thought the character of Nadine was a little off, she seemed to act more like the older lady that Larry Underwood met in New York in the book. Trashcan Man was pretty awesome though.

Ghost Rider
Enjoyable film, but I'm a sucker for most flicks that touch on the mythology of the Old West. Great FX. Despite being too old for the character of Johnny Blaze (yeah, I'm an old-time comic book geek), Nicolas Cage did a good job. A bit of a stretch, but Peter Fonda managed to pull off the role of Mephistopheles. Wes Bentley was lousy as the bad guy; he came across as a manic-depressive metrosexual. Sam Elliott is always good.
The whole jail cell scene seemed a bit PC'd, but that could just be me.
With better casting and better one-liners for the Ghost Rider, this could've been a really good film. 5.5/10.

The Edge, not a bad movie
Hey, been a little busy here is my recently watched list.:
Soprano's- final episode... no comment out of respect for the cableless pheasants
The Pulse- blah, blah, blah, 3/10 doing the crossword puzzle was more fun
The Hunter, starring Steve McQueen. fell a sleep DNF
Breech 6.5/10, good cast! What does everyone else think about Cris Cooper?
Planet of the Apes (1967) 9.5/10 "That's easy to do on this planet."
Ghost Rider 6/10 surprisingly decent. Wes Bentley still needs braces.

Speaking of midgets, sideshow and The Howling if you'd like to see the second best in The Howling franchise check out The Howling 6: The Freaks. Believe it or not it's pretty damn entertaining! Vampires, werewolves, freaks and that little weirdo from Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that played the Oompa Loompa. I'm sometimes tempted to believe it's a touch better than the first.

decided to watch crank for no apparent reason, I still say no matter what it was a decent movie because they didn't try to do anything more than random funny semi-stylish action and the succeeded. By the way, they're making a sequel...yes, for those who saw it, a sequel, not a prequel (given the ending, that's kinda odd)

You wouldn't believe how many times I get strange looks from people when I bring up Ryan Reynolds' comedic timing and similarities to Chevy Chase. Personally, I think Reynolds could be the new Chase seeing as how the old one is no longer funny. Now if we could only find a new Bill Murray.

I just watched Return Of The Living Dead 2 myself.
As I was thinking, "Wow, this movie is excatly like the first one" the main character said something along the line of "something seems really familair....all this..." or something along those lines.
I know it was sarcasm, but at least Evil Dead 2 didnt bring the point that they we're pracitcally remaking the movie up. Cripes.
And, I just died a little bit inside.

Compared to most of the shite that's been spun out these past few years; ROTLD part II is pure gold.
Watched;
LOCKOUT - Review soon...
APARTMENT 0 - I'm really at a loss with this film, I read all these incredible reviews on how horrifying it was and how scary it was going to be...the film does nothing for it's 2 hour running time. Two people die and one goes kinda nuts. I was left more confused than anything else.
INVADERS FROM MARS (1986) - This is one of those movies I always remembered seeing as a kid but could never remember what it was...loved it. Very 80's and cheesetastic! Can't go wrong!

Not true. If you had grown up in the 80's then you would have been saying the same thing then. There was shit then, Rotld 2 included, just as well as there is shit now now. Pure gold? Not a chance in hell. Average at best, and that is on a good day with the soundtrack turned up.
Anyway, i'm off to watch Suicide Circle to cheer myself up:lol:

Actually it's just a difference of opinion as far is being pure shit is concerned. HOWEVER, given the shape of the film's franchise, this one is one of the better sequels right after 3. Anyone who actually enjoys part 4 or 5 over part II, just needs to have their head examined.
And films like Day of the Dead 2, Zombiez, and Zombies Gone Wild were not around back then. Films may have been bad, but everything I've seen zombie related from the 80's hasn't been this bad. Naw, I think by today's zombie film standards, ROTLD part II holds up quite nicely for me.

Just watched Shadow Walkers, cheap horror with a couple of well choreographed fights that looked like they belonged in a film with better dialogue and acting. Not a terrible film though.
Night before I watched The Stuff, a great Michael Moriarty movie from the '80s.
Just rented Buffy season 7, the last disc :(, Xtro 3 (I'm wading through the series for some peculiar reason), and Contamination aka Alien Contamination. Hope to see the last one this evening.

From what I saw of Part's 4 and 5 you could well be right:lol:
The trouble with today is that any Joe Schmo with a camera thinks they are a filmmaker, so we get inundated with poor quality low budget crappery. Not all the time of course, but there is far more of it about than 20 years ago.
Watched The Card Player again earlier
