As many of you know…I dislike the vast majority of the work Marc A. Altman has produced, written and directed. In the past I’ve used strong words to describe my negative feelings when referring to Altman including “hack” and “crap” and many have stated they don’t feel those are fair assessments of the man’s work ethic or final product. While I certainly agree Marc’s films aren’t the worst out there, that honor belongs to Anatoly Fradis and Ulli Lommel, I do feel Altman reaches a bit too far in to the cheese dip. In my opinion Altman’s work always comes across dumbed down and silly when you consider all the superior horror films out there shot on smaller budgets. Perhaps Marc can better serve horror as a producer instead of a writer/director but who am I to say, right? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and all that.

When I first received The Thirst and spotted Altman’s name attached to it I felt that twinge of “Oh man here I go again” feeling but as a reviewer it’s my duty to sit down, watch the movie and be as honest as possible. So…the truth is…The Thirst was good…damn good. It reminded me a great deal of Abel Ferrara’s The Addiction, Near Dark and a little of Cookers (which I loved!). If that doesn’t sound interesting enough for you then go back to your played out, metrosexual whiners and I’ll stick with vampires that can kick your vampires’ asses.

"Altman in 3 and 1/2 star movie review shocker!"

From the review it certainly looks like it is worth a rental

Definitely worth a rental. I just got done reading an article on this film in my Fango this morning and Altman is a real dumbass. Kasten had the right idea with this being about addiction.

Wasn't that the guy that had written and produced "Dead and Deader?" Yeah, who ever would put that mother ****er Dean Cain in a movie is a real turd. Although, I wouldn't say I liked the movie but it was worth watching. I think the funny African American dude was who made the movie. Oh, and the hot chick. I haven't seen "The Thirst" though. If it's any worse than "Dead and Deader" than count me out!

Marc A. Altman was the genius behind House of the Dead as well. Most horror fans have such a hard on for Uwe Boll they neglect the guy who helped write the film.

As for The Thirst, it's not even in the same category as Dead & Deader. The Thirst is a much better film.
