Man, even I got annoyed with Letterman. For how tempermental people claim Savini is, he held it very well.

Well he was on national TV and his career was booming at that point so to make himself seem unpleasant would've been very stupid on his part. However, I've met the guy twice. Both times, he talked to me for maybe about 2 minutes before moving on to someone else, did not remember me from a hole in wall - I've met quite a few people in the horror genre that I was lucky enough to spend 30 seconds with and they remembered me, he didn't even try - and he was just plain rude. While talking to me, he stopped me in mid sentence to talk to someone else next to me and didn't even say "Excuse me" or "Hold on for a sec". Otherwise I wouldn't have cared.

I've heard plenty of stories too about him and most have been similiar unless you really know him well and talk to him outside of conventions.

Savini. My bad.

I'd also like to point this out for your consideration. I was at a horror convo where Tom Savini and Kane Hodder were sitting next to each other. Both were pretty busy but Kane found the time to talk to his fans, Tom just rushed them off. But the kicker, the real kicker came when a 8 year old FRIDAY THE 13TH fan came over and asked Kane if he really killed people in the movie. Now generally he says yes and the kids get all surprised and either get horrified or smile. Well before Kane could even get a word out of his mouth Tom Savini yells, "What are you stupid? It's all fake. That's why I'm here. I do it for a living." The kid looked like someone just killed his best friend and Kane looked like he wanted to prove that he really could kill someone.

In my opinion what Tom did was uncalled for and unecessary. He shot down an 8 year old, stepped on Kane Hodder's words and didn't show any kind of remorse afterwards. Well as you can imagine his table died down quickly after that incident and I believe he went home early. After that, I honestly have no respect for the guy. I admire his work, but that covers it.

Ever since that time he lost me as a fan. I can deal with him being rude to me, but to an 8 year old. That's just low.

As far as I know nothing ever came of it between Kane and him but I know Kane gave the kid a free autograph, and a Jason teddy bear he had just bought. I remember him getting it earlier that day because people were waiting for him to come back, myself included and he showed it to everyone asking how could he not get it.

That was pretty low to do that to an 8year old, but it got me laughing, tad worried that an 8 year old thinks he saw a snuff film!

It's all part of the entertainment value. It's weird but some of these kids think Jason's a hero. When we were younger, looking up to icons like Freddy Kruguer, Michael Myers and whoever else we fell into, I know speaking from personal experience a lot of us thought what we were watching was real. Until our parents or natural mindset told us otherwise.

This kid was still under the impression it was real, Jason was his Superman. Sure it's a little odd for an 8 year old to look up to a horror icon that slaughters people but a lot of us did that, we turned out okay. Angela from NIGHT OF THE DEMONS was my imaginary friend until I was 7. And I'm not talking normal Angela here, I'm talking fully demonized, burned to a crisp Angela.

It's all part of being young. For Tom Savini to call the kid an idiot and step on Kane's toes like that is just uncalled for. It's downright mean. There's no need for something like that.

Class:lol:

No I know it was pretty cold what Savini did I agree with you, but when I was younger watching films it never crossed me that they were real but then I watched hammer horror as a kid and their blood and gore is really fake looking usally looks like someone pouring paint. Vincent Price was my hero as a kid!

Letterman did seem kind of annoying, but I didn't think he was rude or disrespectful in any way. He just seemed to have the old "LOOK AT ME!!" problem that Robin Williams always has.

Shame Tom only had a prop gun. Whether an act or not, what a whiny bitch.

As for the incident with the 8yr old kid.. ehhh, that was a little low I guess. The kid probably went to a FanFest the week before and had Bob Backlund tell him wrestling was all scripted.:-(

As for Landis, here are some facts you may be interested in learning that are from his manslaughter trial concerning the deaths of actor Vic Morrow and 2 child actors in the 80's who were part of The Twilight Zone Movie:

Quote: John Landis

"Fly lower. LOWER". To the pilot of the helicopter that crashed into the victims, killing them.

The helicopter was only 25 feet above the three who died. Experts say that one should NEVER fly that low over people.

Quote: John Landis on examination during his trial.

"We decided to break the law. We decided wrongly to violate the labor code".

Quote: John Landis was asked if he had actor Vic Morrow hold the child actors for the "practice" of the scene while he ran across the water.

"No".

That was the scene all 3 died in.

Landis was asked to used dummies or puppets for scene. Nope, not real enough.

He was asked to film the helicopter separately from the actors then shoot them alone and cut the scenes together. Nope, not real enough.

Well their deaths were unfortunately real enough.

Landis also used LIVE AMMUNITION on the set which upset Producer/Director Steven Spielberg.

So much for safety.

Who knows? Maybe that is why he was in a bad mood to you. He may feel guilty that he is free and that Vic Morrow and the two children are dead.

Here are some links to back up everything.

From Dick Peabody, an actor who worked with and knew actor Vic Morrow:

Another site mentioning the SAME director using REAL GLASS instead or "sugar glass" in The Blues Brother movie because he said, "Real glass sounds better". TOTALLY disregarding the SAFETY of the stuntmen.

Then the creepiest clip on YouTube which shows the crash on the set showing Landis being interviewed after his trial. He is SMILING and chuckling, which is kinda messed up.
