Messing with Mother Nature never works in the movies. We always end up with genetic mutations that are no use whatsoever to humankind, in fact, they always end up threatening our very existence. Scientists will never be able to create a six legged turkey so that everyone can have a leg at Christmas. Instead the turkey will end up chasing us down, tearing family members to pieces and try to reproduce with the family budgerigar.
Isolation opens at a remote farm somewhere in the Irish countryside. Orla, a vet (Essie Davies), turns up at the farm to check on one of the farmer’s (John Lynch) pregnant cows. Of course there’s only one way to check on a pregnant cow, and that’s to go in anally. After getting lubed up (sounds sexier than it actually is) Orla is in up to her elbow, but all is not well Orla is bitten on the hand by the unborn calf.
Just outside Dan’s farm is a caravan occupied by Jamie (Sean Harris) and Mary (Ruth Negga). He politely asks them to move on, but Jamie tells Dan that they’re only staying a few days and that technically they are not on his land.
