As long as I can remember my favorite part of any carnival, or amusement park, has been the house of horrors. Go figure. During Halloween I’m a sucker for the haunted walks, and hayrides. Nothing beats going out into the dark and getting the daylights scared out of you by some unseen horror jumping out of the dark at you.

Dark Ride is a slick modern slasher film that centers on one such amusement park ride of the same name. Ten years ago along a boardwalk amusement park in Asbury Park, NJ a couple of sisters boarded the Dark Ride, to never emerge. Both were brutally killed by a beast of a killer wearing a ceramic mask, presumably meant to hide a hideous deformity. Unfortunately, this is never explained. The monster man was put on permanent lockup in a nearby mental institution. Twenty years later the ride is about to re-open and the killer has managed to escape from the hospital and has made his way back to the old amusement park. Talk about bad timing.
