Once upon a time there was a genre. So mighty was this genre that the six simple little letters needed to name this genre strung together would weaken the knees of nearly all horror fans: the world over. If used correctly this genre could give the Director means to vent all their frustrations, be it political, religious or even sexual. Not only could they send out a message but they could also entertain, offend and often arouse the whole audience.
Things went well for this darling genre. It made names of its directors, actors and shit loads of money for its investors, but more importantly, gave the audience something other genres consistently lacked at the time; Violence, sex and funk-o-delic costumes… all in one motion picture!
Too bad that all good things have come to an end aye? By the late 70’s and early 80’s this genre was on its last legs with only few of the big names continuing to work within it. The masses turned their backs on it, fleeing along with the investors. A noble few fought on, but by the mid 80’s it was truly curtains for this once magnificent genre.
