A treehouse in an open field... that would be an interesting hide out for sure!

There's a thread in undead defense called "Outbreak Safehouses" take a look in there for some locations. There have been some really good ideas lately, even with dwarings 'n' stuff.

How about a steel mill or a factory. There would be potential for a lot of good zombie kills.

Actually I think a train station would be great and I mean a really old one, that aren't big and really open. all there is it the room where you by tickets and then the platforms.

You could have it that they uses a train or walk along the train tracks and at each station they stop for supplies. you could then have zombies over running their train and stuff like that. But i think there should be alot of old ones they give off a real errie vibe mostly at night time.

for a place to hold up, I say a prison. In a forum elsewhere once we were talking about where to go during an outbreak and I came up with the idea of a prison . Or if its a story base in Europe, a castle. Within a month, the comic THE WALKING DEAD had them find an abandoned prsion! I still wonder if the writer was at our forum.

Ballpark - roll down those gates at all the entrances and padlock them.
Its got lots of room including land you could farm, food in the concession stands and high ground you could position snipers on. But I think most importantly the psychological benefit of being able to go stand outside in the sunshine anytime you want.

I think its a good choice for people who live in the city and don't want to get trapped in the mother of all traffic jams on Z-Day as people attempt to escape to the country.

thats quite brilliant, and easier to get into than a prison.

Personally I think if your books just keeps the characters moving it would make a better story, and it would be a way to work in more action. If thats the type of story your writing.

P.S. under special thanks in your book its actualy "Iron Knuckles Schofield", I just thought it would be too long here.

I wouldn't acually have the people in a zombie story stay in one place for that long. I think a zombie story could be more realilistic if the survivors went to places for about a day and then move on (on one day they're in a house, another day they're in a gas station, etc). Almost every practical place has been used in zombie stories (both on paper and on screen), and not many have used a lot of them at once.

A hotel might be a different kind of place... might not be a bad hideout either come to think of it...
