I know some of you out there are zombie worshippers and that’s cool because somebody’s gotta be but I’m losing my faith in low budget filmmakers and their ability to create truly original (and scary) zombie films. Don’t get me wrong there are some out there but most are dismissed by zombie fans as “boring;” films like I, Zombie, Undead, Shadows of the Dead, Necropolis Awakened, Zombie Honeymoon, The Stink of Flesh, Awaken the Dead and Bone Sickness. Sure these films are different and that’s exactly why I enjoy them all so damn much! Aside from these few though, zombie films aren’t exactly offering up anything new and exciting.

Hell even George A. Romero has resorted to derivative filmmaking with his upcoming zombie entry, Diary of the Blair Wi---…uh…Diary of the Dead. People you know it’s time to reevaluate the sub-genre when the “Godfather of the Modern Zombie” believes he’s bringing something new to the table! What’s next…zombies in space? Zombies in the hood? Zombies on a reality show?

Holy Hell. Those have been done! WE’RE DOOMED…literally.

Doomed would fit in the “Zombies on a Reality Show” category and despite my predisposition toward violent outbursts when confronted with ANY horror that revolves around...[READ MORE HERE] (http://www.joehorror.com/0000735.html)

It's a nifty little flick but I wouldn't have purchased it. For me a screener copy, which I gave to a friend, was sufficient.

If it's got zombies in it and has more than a two star rating on JoeHorror.com - I buy it. Any chance of getting a zombie movie nowadays and having fun with it - I'll take.

Hmm...very true. Many are missing out on the fun factor.

Fantastic, its coming today or tomorrow to me via NetFlix, but I didn't know any more about it except it had zombies. I'm glad to hear a reviewer liked it.

During the ending credits, after the host said "Stay tuned for scenes of next weeks show", it looked like they actually filmed an entire extra movie. But unless i got distracted, I didn't see any zombies in this part, just the teams killing each other. I wonder, is there a sequel already made?

I just realized a couple of problems with the story

SPOILERS

The broadcast shows the players being attacked by zombies, this means the rest of the world (considering what range of audience they have) KNOW there are zombies! If this was a failed army experiment, would they have allowed the TV company to reveal this info?

I saw Doomed a week or 2 ago on one of the cable movie channels. I only watched parts of it but the CGI in it was absolutely terrible and the zombies were pathetic looking too. The acting wasn't good but I did like the plot for the film of people trying to survive on an island full of zombies for money.

first off you say low-budget zombie movies suck but think about it LOW Budget
and its hard to think of things that haven't been used before but if you want to make a difference maybe you should be a producer a kids touch would be good because many people don't understand that we think of different angles and ideas and some of us know how to use drama very well like ( Creeping Death )
talk to him about drama he says there is never enough drama.

Yes, I believe drama is essential in a good film

Not sure if this was aimed at my original post but I respectfully disagree on a few of the points you made. I don't believe all low-budget zombie movies suck, just a large majority of them. Low budget doesn't have to mean "bad writing" or "poor FX," unfortunately most indie filmmakers skimp on both and rush their product.

It's sad but that's the state of things in my opinion. I do agree though, zombie films could use a bit more drama.
