I originally was posting these in the Funny or Stupid Videos thread but thought that was kinda inappropriate since some of these aren't at all funny or stupid, (then again...Some of them are! ). Anyhow, I figured a new Police Videos thread would be an interesting thing where maybe people could post cop vids from around the world.
This first one is a pretty tough fella to stand up to that bite dog...

This next one is NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH A SOFT SPOT FOR ANIMALS. There is no animal death in it or anything like that, but it is a video of a full grown bull taking a tazer. I'm only posting it to show the incredible power of these devices. Again, the animal is not killed and is not hurt anymore than a person that takes the hit. I won't even respond to calls where an animal is hurt beyond help so you should know that if this video was anything bad then I would never post it or even watch it.

This one is a great selling point for the Taser. BTW, just so everyone knows, I refer to these non-lethal devices as 'tasers' but the fact is that is just a brand name. It's kind of like the way most people call aluminum foil 'Reynolds Wrap' even though it may be a different brand. Just thought that was an interesting point. Anyway, I'd definitely hate to run into THIS guy in a dark alley, (or anywhere else for that matter!)...

Get this, some dude in San Diego stole a TANK from a national guard armory and went on a rampage:
I was on the freeway when that happened. I was going northbound, and he was coming the other way. He had at least 15 cop cars following him. I remember thinking "WTF is a tank doing on the freeway? The treads are going to rip up the pavement." It didn't even occur to me that somebody could've stolen one from the armory.

Jack, there are four seperate parts at the bottom of the page, click the one labled "The Arrest". It's a textbook example of taser use in the field. As you can tell, I'm an advocate for them.

I've watched the whole thing several times and never saw my truck. When I saw the tank coming down the other side of the freeway followed by all those cop cars, I got as far over to the right as I could. I didn't know precisely what was going on, but it looked incredibly dangerous. I (like everybody else who was there) just did my best to get out of harm's way.

Here's a bunch of cops getting it in training. Keep in mind that these guys are only getting about a 1 and 1/2 second burst. Suspects on the street take a full 5 seconds which is a helluva long time for 50,000 volts! Plus, the probes are simply taped or clipped to these guys rather than having those huge needles shot into them. Keep all that in mind any of you out there who think it might be funny to resist  !!

Trust me...It freakin' HURTS! The good thing is though, that the recovery from it is almost immediate so there's no lasting effects. Thats what makes this such an effective tool. IMO it's the greatest law enforcement tool ever created. Here's another one of an officer actually taking two hits. It shows you a better view how the probes stick into the body...

hey jack whats the difference between stun guns that you can buy for self defense and the police issue ones? Casue my "friend" in school a few years ago had one and got me with it and it made my arm go dead and bruised me but didnt knock me down or anything. I figured either he did it wrong or it was a piece of crap.
keep the vids coming
jackskellington

Your friend probably had one of the old weak ass 'stun guns'. They never were very effective which is why police departments never had them as standard issue that I know of. The 'taser' brand that you see most cops carrying nowadays are also available to the general public. My mom recently bought one in Florida, but then again, that state will let you do ANYTHING including, but not limited to, having your face covered up in your drivers license photo because of your religious beliefs. Jeb Bush sucks, but that's for another thread. Anyhow, even though 'tasers' are available to the general public, PLEASE bear in mind that pointing one of those things at an officer would be considered a deadly force situation. In other words, if someone were to point one at me, then rather than let them stun me and be able to take my gun, I would have no alternative but to use deadly force. Here's a short vid showing the difference between 'EMD', (Electro-Muscular Disruption), devices, (commonly called 'tazers'), and 'stun guns' which is what your friend was probably using...

No I haven't but it sounds interesting. Then again, water and electricity have never been a good mixture. It would eliminate the need for the wires that people easily get tangled in, though. My department is actually looking into getting the newer models which have a camera on the taser intself which is programmed into the dashcam in the patrol car. Since alot of tazing incidents occur off camera, this is a great thing that will eliminate alot of frivolous lawsuits around the country.

Here's a vid of me last month getting a nice 'cookie' of crack out of some shitheads drink. Guess he thought I was too stupid to tell the difference between plastic wrap and ice! Sorry about the quality, but I can't seem to figure out how to hook my camcorder into my VCR to record, so this is on memory stick sitting on my coffee table. Our newer patrol cars have the hard drive in them so I should be getting better vids very soon. Yeah. If you listen carefully when I pick up the food you can hear him say, "You can open it if you want to." Then when I hand him each item and ask him if he would mind opening them, he does it without hesitation. It was a rock solid stop as well because the tag you see on that car actually belongs on a Ford pickup. He'll probably plead and get 5 to 7 or something like that. It's not the most dope I've gotten, but it was definitely the easiest!!

I'm just trying to point out that you can sit and laugh at these videos behind your computer but this is the real world. People getting tazered is not funny. People getting shot in the face is not funny. "Non-Lethal" weapons can be as dangerous as firearms.
Police brutality incidents and power trips are not fun.
You know what is fun though? Reading. Learning. Organizing. Starting a local copwatch (http://www.copwatch.com/) organization. Hippy.
People getting tazered is extremely funny, because there are no lasting effects, and you get to watch stupid people roll around and get fried.
The system isn't racist, black people just commit more crimes than white people. It sucks, but that's the truth. I'm looking at these videos, and I don't see anything even remotely close to racism on the part of the police officer.

All I'm seeing is a photo of someone lying dead with a ski mask covering their face. What I don't see is the incidents leading up to that point in time. Strange . These videos that I'm posting, on the other hand, show EXACTLY what these criminals are doing to deserve exactly what they get. Then again, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the guy using a helpless infant as a human shield is simply 'misunderstood' and the officers should've let him continue on his way. Self-righteous a-holes will NEVER be happy with the outcome. Years ago, people would have to be shot and killed during stand offs like these and people bitched. Then, bean bag rounds and rubber bullets came out as an alternative....and people bitched. Now, there are tazers saving countless officers AND SUSPECTS lives along with millions in taxpayer dollars and still.....people bitch. Don't preach to me about 'the real world' either until you've walked a mile in my boots. Maybe instead of pitching these websites you should go to one of your local law enforcement agencies and request a ride along. Then maybe you could see exactly what officers have to go through every single day and what kind of assholes they have to put up with. Being threatened, hit, kicked, scratched, shot at, cut and spit on is not near as glorious as it sounds. As for feeding the homeless, I come across and help more homeless people than most will assist in their entire lives when I'm on duty. Take your spamming elsewhere and stop trying to get my thread shut down. If you don't like what you're seeing then change the f**king channel.

You said it, Jack!
You know what is fun though? Reading. Learning. Organizing. Starting a local copwatch (http://www.copwatch.com/) organization. Serving food with Food Not Bombs (http://www.foodnotbombs.net/) and trying to not get arrested (http://www.foodnotbombs.net/fnb_resists.html) for feeding the homeless. Fighting back against an overly racist system.
You mean we SHOULD read, learn, and organized based on what you think "reality" is. I like how you slam us for not being realistic and sitting behind our computer screen and yet you are posting on a ZOMBIE and HORROR MOVIE website from...drumroll...YOUR COMPUTER.
I won't take the usual and very well beaten path to point out that there is very little reality in a book or your organizations. The bombastic hyperbole is annoying to the point of disgust.
I will happily laugh my ass off at some idiot that breaking basic safety laws and screaming "racist" just because they are caught. That one woman in the first video might as well have taken a giant shit on Reverend Martin Luther King's grave for the discredit she did for anyone who REALLY died fighting for civil rights for all humans.
You have an agenda that is based on bullshit and that is why you are no better than that woman. The more you lie and exagerate to get people to agree with you the more people will find you annoying and just stupid. You have made it into "Should I believe some idiot politician or that lying douche bag that is calling all the cops racist because they pull over a crack head?" Both of you suck and have no place in your precious little "reality".
Anyways...back to the vids: Here is one that I always liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh6avtR8meI

I'm working on getting the vid from the officer that actually performed the PIT so be looking for that hopefully sometime soon. This one is a link to a local TV station's site, so it won't be up for more than a couple of weeks at best. Not really anything he could've done to prevent it. He was only pulling him over because of a noise ordinance violation. I certainly don't wanna armchair quarterback the officer, but if you want my opinion, I would've done a passenger side approach or at the very least, stayed behind the drivers door and not leaned down towards him. You can't help but become complacent with traffic stops in this job, but things like this are a real wake up call and an excellent learning tool for other officers. The fact that the guy had already opened his door once before the officer told him to pull over further would've told me there was something wrong, but the officer did his job and did it well. I believe the suspect was planning on standing up after opening the door and shooting and then speeding away which would've been the reason for him keeping his tires on the pavement and having to be told several times to pull over further.

Jack, you and I are on the same page...eye-to-eye on most things, but especially on this.
Given the nature of the stop in the first place, a right side approach would have been good advice. Once the suspect opened the door the first time, even if I didn't know the subject matter of the video, the hairs on the back of my neck would have stoop up(in fact they did and I even started looking at the right side for a few reasons). Over here alot of US folks buy crap cars knowing the thing only has to last them a few years then they'll either sell it for $100 or abandon it. Therefore, alot of them have windows that don't work so they don't bother fixing it and instead open thier doors for contact. Still, once someone does, I start looking at the stop a bit differently(if ya know what I mean!).
You're right that it's not fair to Monday morning QB the officer. As far as I could tell he acted pretty much within normal SOP for a traffic stop. I also think though that complacency got him. He even mentioned that he expected a DUI. He also performed alot of things that some of our folks don't(like the trunk check). But in the end it just goes to show that, although we get good training on this type of thing, you can never cover ALL of the variables.
One of the things that sticks in my mind about traffic stops comes from my first supervisor. He said that, like domestics, every traffic stop is different. Even though all the normal procedures required are the same, each person is unique, and therfore thier actions, and thought processes, will be also. This is probably why I still, to this day, approach every stop hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.
Fred, as Jack mentioned, this stop was for a noise ordanance. Just to go one step further on this, To blind them w/ your takedowns, pull your weapon, and call for backup can be percieved as excessive force. Not only that, but unneccesary. 99.9% of these stops result in the person complying respectfully. No need for aiming center mass. This just happens to be that .1%, but still, there's the other 99.9.
One thing I still do during darkness, reguardless of the reason for the stop, is quickly shine my surefire in the subjects eyes. This accomplishes a few things, but I'll just mention the top 2 here.
1. It effectively destroys thier night vision. If they get squirrely, I have that advantage over them.
2. It serves to check for pupilary dilation. Booze and drugs affect alot of things, one being pupilary response. I can't necessarily use it in court as a condition of probable cause, but it gives me a personal precursor in making determinations.

I don't wanna second guess those officers, but in the second video, that officer in the dark blue uniform that goes back to his patrol car BEFORE everyone was detained really dropped the ball. Leaving that other officer alone by the truck to cover 4 people was an incredibly stupid move on his part.
There was NO way the officer could have seen that coming, I suppose he figured his partner could handle four scared teenagers that had just smashed into something. I think it was still just the two of them at that point, so somebody had to radio it in. Letting his guard down wasn't smart, but I won't tear him up over it.

You're right. There was no way the officer could've seen that coming which is precisely why it was stupid of him to leave the other guy there alone. Could he not have radioed it in on his handheld? Anyway, the last thing you're worried about in that situation is whether or not dispatch knows whats going on. The last thing dispatch heard from them was that the vehicle had wrecked, (10-50), so what else could he possibly have been wanting to radio in? It couldn't have been a call for more backup since a pursuit automatically brings every free unit to your location. If it were a simple traffic stop then yes, he could've reasonably left him there alone. But this was at the end of a pursuit which, in alot of states, makes it a felony stop. You'll always hear them talk about 'routine traffic stops' on COPS and Court TV, but there really is no such thing. It all boils down to this...Get everyone in the truck in handcuffs, search them and then call it in.

Great find on that Lamborghini patrol car Ark!! I can't even imagine having something that powerful. We, as most agencies around here, are slowly phasing out the Ford Crown Vics and replacing them with Dodge Chargers. That's all well and good, but I'd MUCH rather have a Dodge Magnum. They just look cooler and have much more functionality.

Although the Chargers are fast, they don't really 'hug' the road as well as the Crown Vics. You'd be surprised at how many people still try to outrun them though! As for those used Crown Vics, you can check with your local agencies on them. Alot of them are on a two year lease deal nowadays, but they'll let you know which dealership they trade them out in and you can then go there to get them dirt cheap. Some agencies still auction the old cars off, but that's getting alot less common. Taxi cab companies usually have the skinny on when and where these cars are being sold since they buy up the majority of them.
They ought to be pretty reliable, you still see old LTD Crown Vics everywhere, and I know guys with police package Dodge Diplomats that are still running after god knows how many miles.

I don't wanna second guess those officers, but in the second video, that officer in the dark blue uniform that goes back to his patrol car BEFORE everyone was detained really dropped the ball. Leaving that other officer alone by the truck to cover 4 people was an incredibly stupid move on his part.
True, he let his guard down. I personally don't leave my partner until the suspect is in cuffs, searched and secured(in the unit or in the processing area. But, unlike my situation where I can rely on an Ambulance service within 5min, these guys have to treat until med arrives. He might have gone from suspect mindset to TA victim mindset. Still the officer still covering had good spatial positioning on the vehicle. Just goes to show that although we can figure out the safest way to approach a vehicle, we can never make it 100% safe and $hit still happens.

I've not read through the whole thread, but I was just wondering (a little off-topic) if anyone else thinks that, in some cases, police car chases might be a bad thing..?
I mean, fair enough if the suspect is escaping from a serious crime scene or has a hostage, but so many of these chases are about stupid things like a stash of dope under the driver's seat or a guy who was driving while banned or whatever. These people see the cops, freak out, and shoot off. By following them at high speed, the police are causing the culprit to continue driving at high speeds for longers periods of time and to take more risks (like running red lights, driving on the sidewalks, etc.). Plus, in a car chase, there is not one but two (at least) cars driving dangerously fast on the roads.
Police chases kill several people in America alone every week. The question is, does the practice of pursuing criminals at speed harm more people than it helps? There are other options for catching offenders, such as using roadside CCTV networks to track vehicles and even a new GPS bullet that can be fired into a car and track it via. satellite. Is it still wise to be carrying out Smokey and the Bandit-style chases?
I'm not trying to be political or spoil anyone's fun. I know police videos are great fun to watch, I enjoy them too. I'm just wonder what you guys think about this.
I believe most departments have strict policies about discontinuing chases after a certain point. Often, I've seen vids where they back off pursuit if the suspect is getting too out of control. But, you know, sometimes you just have to chase them down and get it done.

Glad to hear it. Though I'm sure I've seen a few chases on America's Wildest Police Videos where the cops were as much of a menace on the roads as the suspects. Most of the chases I'm concerned about seem to take place in either the southwestern US or here in the UK, so maybe these areas could do with more controls to prevent certain cops from dangerously playing up to the cameras.
I do agree that you have to balance the potential dangers of continuing pursuit with the potential dangers of leaving the suspect at large, but judging from a lot of what I've seen on TV, some departments don't seem to be giving this much thought and are using "car chase" TV as a cheap and cynical way to draw support, which is a little worrying.
Still, it's worth watching just to laugh at this guy's head:
http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/5c6/ced/5c6ced6d-6479-4947-bb98-9a6f0f89994b
Hahah!
There is one thing you have to take into consideration, and that is that people do still pull over for cop lights and sirens. Without them, they have no clue this person is coming. Plus, oftentimes they don't have a helicopter ready and waiting to track the suspect, so they get away scot free when the cops back off. Just depends on the circumstance. Personally, I think standard policy should be to get them on the highway away from people, lean out the window, and shoot at the car until it stops.

That is a good question Dagnammit, and one that every agency in America has asked itself at one time or another. Many factors come into play when deciding whether or not to discontinue a pursuit. Alot of departments will discontinue if it is becoming too dangerous for the officers and the general public. Also, are there children in the suspect vehicle? Is the original violation a felony? The thing is, though, that until you get them stopped, you have no idea why they are running from you. They could just have a suspended license or they could've just murdered someone. The suspect I shot and killed back in September had just shot his wife 26 times with a revolver. I didn't have time to ask him why he was trying to kill me, I just reacted accordingly. I've also had several pursuits into Savannah Georgia, where they are not allowed to assist. They simply use their units in the area to block off side roads so that no civilians get hurt. They do assist, however, once it turns into a foot chase. Me? I'm all for pursuits. If a perp knows for a fact that the cops have a policy of not chasing them, then why would they stop in the first place? I wouldn't  !! It all really boils down to common sense on the officers part as most incidents do. My department has a policy of "chase 'em 'til the wheels fall off", which is usually what happens at the end!! BTW, glad to see you think John Bunnell has a weird head!! My wife and I have been calling him 'Tater-Tot Head' for years!!

Stolen car I chased into Georgia during Christmas of 2005. It was a good half hour pursuit so I had to break it into sections. I cut off the first 10 minutes or so because they were pretty boring. Ended up being a 16 year old kid at the wheel and the foot pursuit in the end went for well over a mile. Sorry for the dash-cam being shaky in some parts, but it was a new patrol car and I hadn't worked out all the tweaks yet. Lots of fun, though!!

Annoying girl getting arrested in Florida. She actually bites the officer's arm at one point and gets a good punch to the head . Believe it or not, skinny girls like this are the hardest people to arrest when they don't wanna go. They can bend their arms in crazy directions all while screaming, crying and denying that they are resisting arrest. Usually they end up having to be tazed or simply thrown to the ground where they are easier to control.

This is what ALWAYS happens when some little bitch tries to "man up" in booking. 9 times out of 10, these types cry like babies in the back of the patrol car while en route to the jail, begging and pleading for us to call their mommies and such nonsense. Then, when you walk them into booking, they try to act like bad asses in a pathetic attempt to "impress" the other inmates. People just don't understand that when you're under arrest, you do what you're told, when you're told, plain and simple.

Good job by this officer. I've had countless people pull this exact same stunt. They pull into the ER entrance at the hospital thinking that will give them a "free pass" from the officer trying to stop them. The officer makes an excellent point to her about the fact that if her husband was hurt that badly she could've called 911 for an ambulance. She then decides to stand there and argue with the officer about how badly her husband is in need of medical care. Well if he were really in such dire need, wouldn't her arguing with the officer only prolong everything? If she would've simply handed the officer her license, registration and proof of insurance he could've started his paperwork and she could've gotten her wheelchair. Speaking of the wheelchair...It certainly didn't look like he really needed one or that he was even in any sort of pain at all when he assaults the officer. What a couple of pieces of shit...
