View Full Version : After Dark Horror Fest - 8 New horror flicks at the theatres in one weekend!
I'm hoping this shows at a theatre near me!:)
After Dark Horror Fest (http://horrorfestonline.com/)
8 New horror flicks are being screened over the weekend 17th-19th November. One of which is The Abandoned directed by Nacho Cerda (he directed the beautifully savage Aftermath/Genesis)

YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!! This is playing out by me. I'M THERE I'M SO GODDAMN THERE. I normally don't DO the theater shit anymore but I'll be purchasing an All-Access Pass for this!
Think i will be doing the same, seeing as they are playing at my local theatre:)
Seems new horror isn't that interesting

They played a trailer for it when I watched the new TCM. It does look interesting, although I'm not sure which ones my theater is going to get. Are any of your theaters getting all eight of them?

yes! there showing it at the higher scale theater at our big mall. kick ass.
nirvroxx.. were going.
I'm not sure. I was under the impression that they will be showing all of them. It will probably just be one or two screenings of each movie in just one auditorium. I may be wrong though.
I do know that the theatre that is showing them near me has about 20 screens, so there is plenty of room for all of them

Ah, then perhaps saying something along the lines of, "The theater page currently has no theater listings right now. Does anybody know if there's any other place online that might have the information I need?"
Course, that'd be far too easy.
My suggestion would be to call some of the major theaters in your area and ask about the upcoming film fesatival being planned for their theater on the 17th, 18th and 19th of November. I did and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Good luck.

It's a 4-4 1/2 hour journey to London from where I live and I don't have the money to be making that journey, let alone regularly.
There used to be a good festival in Nottingham called Shots in the Dark, but that was more crime thriller orientated. Mind you Notts is still a couple of hours from you lol Is there nothing in Leeds or York?

Not soo sure, to be honest I never really had the chance to go to anything like that. Either no money or no time, but when I get back to work I'll have the money and I'll make the time or I'll never get anywhere.

Here's my schedule for next weekend. Unfortunately I can't make any on friday night, as for the rest though
Saturday
Penny Dreadful - 6.05pm
The Gravedancers - 8.30pm
The Abandoned - 11pm
Sunday
Wicked Little Things - 6.05pm
The Hamiltons - 8.30pm
Snoop Dogg's Hood Of Horror - 11pm

should the schedule (as far as groupings/order of films, not the exact showtimes) be the same at all theaters? what is the friday schedule? and if you could only go one night, which do you think is the one to see?

KICK ASS!!! This is playing in Savannah!! BTW, am I imagining things or is the poster for Wicked Little Things not the same poster they were using way back in the day for that 'Zombies' movie that Tobe Hooper was supposed to be making?

Friday:
Dark Ride
Reincarnation
Unrest
Saturday:
Penny Dreadful
The Abandoned
Grave Dancers
Sunday:
Hood of Horrors
The Hamiltons
Wicked Little Things
If i only saw one each day they would be

Sat - The Abandoned (without a shadow of a doubt!)
Sun - The Hamiltons

so, I'm home typing this and therefore not out seeing Gravedancers right now. Spent 5 hours on the lawn and garden today, finished dinner about 30 mins ago, and I'm just too beat.
I suppose I could still make it to The Abandoned, but I'll probably just use the bucks I'm saving to buy a dvd or 2...or 4 if I'm lucky :) and I'll catch these 2 on dvd when they become available.
Looking forward to the reviews!

I went to the late show of Unrest on Friday and wow.....total snooze fest.
Not much action and very lame.
I expected more but was let down....
The crowd was nice tho...something over 200 with 250 being a sell out.
The guys next to me had watched the previous two movies, can't recall what they were, and planned to see the remaining movies the following few days.

I was surprised at how busy the screenings were. The Abandoned started at 11pm and was virtually full. The Gravedancers was packed.

The screening for The Hamiltons was almost completely empty. There was maybe 10 people in a 250 seat theater. Shame because it was the better of the two I went and saw. Wicked Little Things was just weak and the house was packed for it. The theater was overflowing with horror nerds yammering about the possibility of real life possessions and the Pulse.
The Hamiltons was quite cool though. I was definitely happy with that flick.
Just got back from Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror. Hmm, now to review it:roll:

It was announced today that Lionsgate will release the After Dark Horrorfest titles Dark Ride, The Gravedancers, The Hamiltons, Penny Dreadful, Reincarnation, Wicked Little Things and Unrest all on DVD March 27, 2007. The Tripper is getting a limited theatrical release sometime this Spring from After Dark, while Nacho Cerda's The Abandoned is hitting theaters this January. Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror should be arriving on DVD this January courtesy of Xenon.:drinking:

Thanks,Grave dancer thats it, all right! It even looks scarier in the trailer! There are two scary 'ghosts' in that clip. Subliminal Some of the scariest makeup I've seen in a long time. How does it play out in the movie? Scary as it looks? Do those particular ghosts have a longer appearance? I'm getting this if the rest of the film is as good.
The ghosts show up relatively frequently, it's definitely worth checking out, although there is more humour than you might expect.

I think it hit home with me a little more than it should have as I've been haunted (not to those extremes) in the past, plus while I was watching, our house kept settling and our cats must've been playing craps or something in the spare bedroom. :scare:

I watched Unrest last night. It was quite effective I thought. Yes, in the last 15 or so, there was a few times I was like, WTF? It seems the story jumps around and hiccups a couple times. I would have liked to have actually seen some ghost/monster/demon action but even without that, it was still effective.

That really depends on whether you're a fan of Asian horror cinema. If you're a fan, it was decent though occasionally muddled. If you dislike Asian horror cinema, especially "long-haired ghost girl" films...steer clear. It's not novice friendly.
