George Clooney, at the wrap party for Attack of the Killer Tomatoes II. This was way back when he was still cool, before he got all full of himself. If you ever meet him in person, ask him to tell you about the time his roommate thought his cat was constipated. It's a great story.

Back in the mid 1990s, I voluntered to work a saturday at a sport cerleberty golf tournament put on by my then boss for his charity group The Good Guys, they help kids in Mexico get needed medical treatment, plastic surgery. I drove a big golf cart with 2 big coolers loaded with beer, soda water- mostly beer, ans pakaged snacks. My job was to drive thru the huge private golf club, when someone held thier hand up, it signal me to go over to them, knock your self out. needless to say I was a very popular guy that day, $987 in tips was a bonus. There was numerous sports stars current, and retired, hall of famers, tv, and movie stars. in 12 hours I worked. just whatever small talk they started was the only interaction, I met a lot of cerlebities, and provided unkown mass quanities of drinks, snacks. Stan Humpries a ex Charger quarterback was the best, Tony Gywnn, and Joe Pesci where pretty cool. they wanted to make sure that they never had to wait for beverages. thats my 5 seconds of fame.

"There's another one I met. (You'll like this one, Toe Tag.) I don't know if he would be considered 'World Famous', but most Australians should have heard of him. He is one of the most interesting people I ever met. That's 'Crocodile Harry'. The oldest living (if he is still alive) Crocodile Hunter in Australia. He lives in a 'cave' type house, that started out as his Opal Mine. You can see sections of it, including the whole front, in the movie 'Beyond The Thunder Dome'. It's the place the kid, who stops the train, climbs down the ladder to." :)

I'm not up for listing right now, but I just saw Pain and TBD mention Clive Barker...you know, he was probably the nicest celeb I've met. I bought two copies of one of his books and really went out of my way to make this signing, as they were going to be gifts and I wanted to make it nice. Anyway, I was really late to the signing, and had to go there straight after a really long day of work. I ended up waiting in line for about three hours--but I was determined (the one sister is a HUGE Barker fan, which I'll go into in a second). It was annoying because there were people in line who cearly weren't there just as fans--they had BAGS of books, comics, articles, etc., for him to sign, likely to sell. And he signed every one and wouldn't leave until everyone was taken care of. By the time I got up there, I could see he was sick. He clearly had a cold, or a flu, or something. I just looked at him and asked if if he was sick--it was ridiculous for him to still be doing this. He smiled a bit as if to say "Yeah, but, you know..." I looked behind me and there was about 20 of so people left, so I reassured him that it was okay--it was almost over and he could go home, to which he smiled.

Years ago, my sister actually made him a panel of stained glass depicting the cover of one of his books. So I say "You probably don't remember this but a long time ago..." and he totally remembered, and said "Yes! Oh yes, we have that hanging..." I can't remember where in his house, but it was really satisfying to go back to my sister and tell her, after all these years years, he still has it, had really liked it and appreciated it enough to keep it. It meant alot to her. He was a great guy for sticking through the signing, not losing an ounce of pleasantness, despite the many hours, despite being sick. He was nice in the way that you don't just hope celebrities are, but just anyone in general.

Hats off to Clive Barker.:drinking:

I second that. A really nice guy. He's done several signings at Dark Delicacies here in Burbank so I've crossed paths a few times.

I can't make a list either- yeah, yeah.... I worked in the "industry", etc.- but I do remember managing a B&N back when Rawling had just released her third Harry Potter book and she was at the height of the Potter mania. The book signing was huge: fans lined up outside the store two nights in advance and camped in sleeping bags on the sidewalk. Long story short, she had a small army of personal bodyguards swarming around her (I guess a crowd of 10 year olds could get out of hand... ) and she was adamant about staying for the planned two hours only, whether the entire line had their copies signed or not. And she also only agreed to sign 5 copies for the store's employees; we raffled them to see who got one (I did get one but gave it to someone else whose grandkids loved the series. I did read the first Potter book-I felt that as a book store employee I should at least have a passing familiarity with what was selling, like Koontz, Clancy, Grisham, etc. Big fat waste o' time...). She was extremely rude and condescending to the staff; I don't think she said word one to any of the kids she was signing for. Anyway, the store had a second story which her management had requested we block the escalator and elevator entrance to keep things "safer". So we had employees manning both and I was wandering around the store making sure everything was kosher. So I'm upstairs talking to an employee and this big ass bodygurad angrily gestures at me to come down. I think he thought I was a customer who'd managed to sneak upstairs. I just smiled and waved at the moron- what was Scholastic going to do? Stop sending their product to the biggest booksales retailer in the U.S.? F*ck 'em! The twitguard said something into his cell but I didn't notice any suits rushing up to tackle me so I spent the rest of the signing standing around upstairs watching the masses below.

Yeah, maybe Rawling was in a bad mood; I've heard other stories where she was all sweetness and humble gratitude. I can certainly accept that her demeanor may have been the exception rather the rule, but it did suck and I do remember a crowd of 50+ kids, some sobbing, being turned away near the end as the 120 minutes came to a close.

But a big  to Barker!

ive met a few, a whole lot of wrestlers , back in the early 70's my mom used to date bobby the brain henan and was very good friends with rick flair and superstar and they kept in touch through today yet and ive met them all, my dad also used to hang with a bunch of wrestlers ( thats how my folks met ) he was very good friends with andre the giant, bruiser and crusher, and handsome jimmy valliant aka the boogie woogie man, all of whom ive met, but my favorite would have to be the ultimate warrior, when we moved from the city out to the burbs he helped us move, was awesome, ive also met a bunch of other wrestlers on my own too, me and my one buddy followed a car to a gas station from a local wrestling match and got to meet rick stiener and glodberg.

as for non wrestlers only one stands out to me.

a few years back, I decided to pick up a new fishing pole so I went to gander mountain, and me and my buddy tom were standing there looking at them, and I picked up a pole and was looking at it, and i heard this voice from behind me say something along the lines of "that pole sucks, its for pussies" and i was like wtf , and I turned around and it was ted nugent - I was floored, he was in town for a show, and being the outdoors man he is i guess wanted to go to gander mountain and look around , he was totaly awesome, he recomended a pole, which I bought, and he signed ( ive never actualy used it ) he also gave us tickets for the show and a couple of backstage passes, he was a seriously cool dude.

I'm digging this back up because I thought It would be rude to start a whole new thread just to brag.

I met Joe Jackson last night!

I know alot of you are going "huh?" right now. Its ok :) Joe Jackson did the song "Is she Really Going Out With Him?" that came out in the early 80's. The album that it came out on, "Look Sharp!" was constantly played on my parents stereo and I grew up loving it. So I in the following years, grew up being a huge Joe Jackson fan.

He played at the 930 club last night, here in Baltimore. That concert was excellent, a kinda-intitamte setting, he played all my favorite songs and some new stuff I was really digging.

The following will sound like a lie, but I swear to god it isnt, I only wish I had a camera to prove what happened.

Afterwards, I step outside to have a smoke because Baltimore City is a no smoking in public area city. I go around to the side and see Joe Jackson, looking for his own smokes. He spots me and asks me If he can bum a cigarette off of me. I oblige, all while trying to remain very cool. He remarks that I have to be the youngest person he's seen at one of his shows in a long time (Im 22). We acutally start to have a conversation, turns out hes a avid smokers-rights type of guy and is really trying to get Timberland to work on his next record.

All in all, hes really chill, VERY funny and really sweet. He signed my cigarette pack and gave me a hug (awww), and even complimented my parents (we talked about the music we grew up listening to) on raising me right.

Very excellent night.

Michael Moore attended a fund raiser that I worked at in a small northern Michigan town. I didn't know who he was at the time, but he was pointed out to me. He added an auction to be bid on at the last minute to raise more money...$1000 for a kiss from him.

The current running back for the New York Jets (Thomas Jones) and the current running back for the Seattle Seahawks (Julius Jones). They are brothers and they graduated from the high school I went to. They come back here and you see them around town. Which it's a small town anyways so you can't miss them. Their parents still live here. I see them at the grocery store all the time. Their youngest sister graduated a year before I did. Which I just graduated last year. So I've met them quite a few times. One of the best was I was standing in line at a gas station at like 1 in the morning and Thomas came in to pick up a cheeseburger. He talked to me for about 5 minutes before he had to leave. Pretty cool guy. Then he brought his girlfriend Megan Good in to his sisters graduation. (Megan Good played in saw 5 and other movies) So I got to meet her too.

I work for a rather well known sports media company, so I bump into sports celebs all the time. I've literally collided with Mike Ditka, entering the bathroom. I've also bumped into Kobe Bryant in the cafeteria. By bumped, I mean physically collided. Kobe is friggin tall. I've seen Ron Artest play the Nintendo Wii which is just as ridiculous as it sounds.

As for celebs, I've chatted with Bruce Campbell at a convention. I've given Dennis Hopper directions. I've eaten in a cafeteria across from Ben Affleck where he was surrounded by women who hung on every word . I've stumbled onto one of Michael Bay's sets and looked at him roll his eyes. I almost puked on the actor who played Mr. Drummen in a Different Strokes after I swallowed a chili pepper during a Hollywood elbow rubbing schmooze-athon. There's more, but none of it really interesting.

But really, I have been across the street from former President Bush(the 2nd one), talked with Sarah Palin before she ran for VP and met and know many dog mushers personally, who are celebrities in Alaska. People like Lance Mackey, Libby Riddles, etc. There are more people who are famous that I have met, I just can't think of them right now.
